Red-whiskered Bulbul English name: Red-whiskered Bulbul Scientific name: Pycnonotus jocosus Family: Pycnonotidae Head and crest: Jet black, with distinctive erect crest. Cheeks: Prominent bright red streaks on both cheeks (the English name “Red-whiskered” also comes from this feature). Breast and belly: White mixed with grey, with a bright red patch on the lower belly. Back and wings: Greyish brown. Tail: Long, with white streaks on the edge of the tail.
