Binary Translator
Overview
Use Binary Translator to decode binary to text and turn words into 0s and 1s.
Binary Translator converts ordinary text into sequences of zeros and ones, then turns those bytes back into readable characters. Use this binary code translator to inspect an encoded message, check a small example or prepare text for copying. Conversion runs on your device and works offline, with no account or connection needed. 💡 Start with a short message 1. Open the extension in a full tab and choose text to binary or binary to text. 2. Paste your input, select its encoding and run the conversion. 3. Read the result alongside the original, then copy it or save a TXT file. For example, Hi becomes 01001000 01101001 in either supported encoding. Paste those two groups into the decoder to recover the same letters. Spaces between bytes make each group easier to inspect; they do not add spaces to the decoded message. Character, byte and bit counts help you see how much data the message contains. Choose an encoding that matches your content ➤ UTF-8 supports accents, emoji and text in different writing systems. A character may occupy several bytes. ➤ Strict ASCII accepts only characters with values from 0 to 127. Use it when your source requires that range. ➤ When decoding, select the encoding used to create the bytes. The extension does not guess or repair the original format. Set the layout of encoded output - Spaces separate the eight-bit groups for reading. - New lines put each byte on its own line. - No separator produces a continuous stream of digits for copying into another tool. Try a simple round trip 1️⃣ Encode a word and compare each group with the character count. 2️⃣ Change one letter in the input, run it again and inspect the new result. 3️⃣ Decode the generated sequence to check that it returns to the original text. This also works with punctuation and line breaks. 📌 Bring selected text into your workspace Open the extension from its toolbar icon or a page context menu. On an ordinary web page, select a snippet and use the selection command to send it to the workspace. If the page restricts extension access, copy the content and paste it manually. Review the incoming selection before replacing a draft you want to keep. Keep control of your current work • The current draft and settings are saved on this device so you can return to them. • Up to ten incoming selections can wait in a local queue. Use or dismiss them as needed. • Replacing a draft requires confirmation. A saved draft is one current working copy, not a history of every conversion. Take the result where you need it ▸ Copy the output to the clipboard. ▸ Download the original input or the converted output as a TXT file. ▸ Choose a byte separator before sharing encoded text, so the layout suits its destination. 📍 Your text stays on your device Binary Translator has no backend, tracking or cloud sync. It stores the current draft, settings, language preference and pending selections locally. The delete local data control asks for confirmation before removing those items. Files you have already exported remain on your device and must be managed separately. The interface supports 52 languages, with automatic selection from the browser language and a manual language picker. Changing the interface language preserves your draft and result. This setting changes the controls and messages; the encoding determines which characters can be converted. For each conversion, the limit is 100,000 bytes. The input field also has a limit of 1,000,000 UTF-16 code units; some characters, including many emoji, use two of those units. Split larger material into smaller parts. You can cancel an operation that is still running. Line endings in the text area are normalized to LF. When you decode binary, the input may contain spaces, commas or line breaks between groups. A continuous sequence is accepted when its length is a multiple of eight; an optional 0b prefix is supported. Invalid digits, incomplete bytes and malformed UTF-8 produce an error instead of a guessed result. A warning identifies decoded control characters that may not be visible as ordinary text. Questions and answers Does binary to English mean a translation between languages? No. It restores characters from their encoded bytes. A message written in another language remains in that language. Can I convert a number to another base? This tool encodes text characters. Entering 42 encodes the two digits, rather than calculating the base-two representation of the number. Can it read encrypted files or old character sets? It handles pasted text and byte sequences in UTF-8 or ASCII. It does not decrypt content or decode other file formats and legacy encodings.
