Biasly has launched its Biasly News Check chrome extension so users can fact-check their news for biases and accuracy/reliability in real-time. While visiting news websites users can click on the extension icon or the 'View Bias' button on the right side of the page. It also works on Facebook and Twitter to check the quality of social media posts in the your news feed. The Biasly News Check extension was created by the founders at Biasly, a media bias rating agency and news service that provides aggregated news and bias analytics on all types of news. With Biasly News Check for Chrome, you can immediately obtain the bias rating for any article that you visit. You can view the bias rating, how the news source leans/portrays politicians and political policies/issues mentioned. All article media bias ratings are based on the latest data science and analytics. ★ Bias Rating Bias rating scores are on a scale of -100% to 100% with higher negative scores being more liberal and higher positive scores being more conservative, and 0% being neutral. ★ News Reliability News Reliability is measured based on several factors including the quality and diversity of sources and quotes. Individual scores are provided in addition to an average overall reliability score. ★ Works on Facebook and Twitter The Chrome extension allows you to check your news on Facebook and Twitter in your news feed. You will see a bias rating at the bottom of each post as you scroll. ★ Author Check We check the author for you to show you how they score on other Biasly articles. Is the author known for leaning one way? You can find out through the author check. ★ Politicians The media portrays politicians often positively or negatively which our bias meter recognizes. Negative and positive sentiment scores are on a scale of -100% to 100% with higher negative scores showing in a more negative light and higher positive scores showing in a more positive light. ★ Policy and Political Terms Individual political policies and political terms are measured for author bias. Sentiment towards such terms will show how the author portrays or mentions a policy or political term in its articles and how the average reader interprets it. ★ For Educators, News Agencies, Politicians, and Everyone Around the World The extension is made for people who are interested in learning or teaching students about media biases in the news and how these can affect someone's perception of the news. I'm not all that concerned about bias. I'm intelligent enough to wade through that. What I'm most concerned about is facts, as opposed to opinions posing as them or worse, the spreading of lies purposely to sway public opinion. Which has never been a difficult thing to do. I am hoping this extension can at least help with that. For instance, one has to pay close attention to what is and isn't being said to understand when you are being deceived. This extension created by Politic Nation is awesome. I am able to click on it before and after I read an article to see the bias rating, policy leaning, and more!
