Photo Dedupe: Duplicate Finder for Google Photos

Find duplicate and similar photos in Google Photos, all in your browser. Selects them for you to review; never deletes anything.

Photo Dedupe finds duplicate and near-duplicate photos in your Google Photos library: re-saved copies, resized versions, small edits and blurry burst shots. It shows how much space you could free, then selects the extras for you to review. Everything happens in your browser. Your photos are never uploaded anywhere, and nothing is deleted until you press the trash button yourself. HOW IT WORKS 1. Open Google Photos (your library, an album or a search) and click the Photo Dedupe icon. 2. Press "Scan this view". Photo Dedupe scrolls through your photos and makes a visual fingerprint of each one, right on your computer. 3. Review the groups of look-alikes. Green photos will be kept and red ones will be removed. The sharpest photo in each group is kept by default. 4. Press "Select marked photos". The extension ticks them in Google Photos. Check the selection, then use Google's trash button. Items stay in the bin for 60 days in case you change your mind. REVIEW A WHOLE LIBRARY FROM THE KEYBOARD Click any photo in the results to open it full screen, then: • Space: switch the photo between keep and remove • ← →: previous or next photo in the same group • ↑ ↓: previous or next group • K: play or pause a video • Esc: close the preview A typical review: look at the photo, press Space if you want to change it, press → to compare the next copy, and press ↓ when the group looks right. Every group always keeps at least one photo.
