Overview

See which Spanish words you know on any website. Click a word or highlight a phrase to translate it and save it to Parrot.

Learn Spanish while you read the internet. Parrot turns every Spanish website into a personal reading lesson, built around the words you already know and the words you are learning right now. Most language learners hit the same wall: the app lessons go well, but real Spanish on the web still feels too hard. You open a news article, a recipe, or a blog post in Spanish, and you cannot tell which words you should already know, which ones are new, and which ones are worth saving. Parrot solves this by bringing your Parrot dictionary to every page you visit. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ HOW IT WORKS ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 1. Install the extension and log in to your Parrot account. 2. Open any website in Spanish. 3. Parrot colors each Spanish word by what you know: • Yellow: a new word that is not in your dictionary yet • Light yellow with an underline: a word you are learning • No color: a word you already know 4. Click any word to see its English translation. 5. Mark it as known, or add it to your learning list, with one click. Every change syncs to your Parrot account right away. The words you save while you read show up in the Parrot app on your phone, so you can practice them later with Parrot's lessons and review. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ FEATURES ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ SEE YOUR SPANISH LEVEL ON EVERY PAGE Parrot downloads your full Parrot dictionary and checks every Spanish word on the page against it. In a few seconds you can see how much of an article you can already read. As your vocabulary grows, fewer words are colored, and you can see your progress on real Spanish content. ONE-CLICK TRANSLATION Click a Spanish word and a small card opens next to it with the English translation. Words that are already in your dictionary show the translation you saved. New words are translated by Parrot. You do not need to copy text into a separate translator or leave the page. TRANSLATE FULL PHRASES IN CONTEXT Single words are not always enough. Highlight a phrase or a full sentence and click Translate to see what it means in context. Save useful phrases to your Parrot dictionary as learning items, so you remember expressions, not only single words. MARK WORDS AS KNOWN When you see a word you already know, mark it as known with one click. Parrot stops highlighting it on every website, and your Parrot account knows that you have learned it. This keeps your highlights focused on the words that matter for you. BUILD YOUR VOCABULARY FROM REAL SPANISH Add new words to your learning list while you read. These are words from content you chose and care about, so they are easier to remember than random word lists. Then practice them in the Parrot app. SMART SPANISH DETECTION Parrot only reads Spanish. It uses Chrome's built-in language detection and the language tags on the page to find Spanish text. It works on pages that are fully in Spanish and on Spanish sections inside English pages. English text, code, forms, and text boxes are left alone. WORKS WITH THE WEBSITES YOU ALREADY READ Use Parrot on Spanish news sites, blogs, recipes, song lyrics, sports coverage, travel guides, online encyclopedias, and forums. Parrot colors words without changing the page, so websites keep working normally. Links still work: to translate a word inside a link, hold Alt (Option on Mac) and click the word. RIGHT-CLICK TO TRANSLATE Select any text, right-click it, and choose "Translate with Parrot" to open the translation card. QUICK TRANSLATE FROM THE TOOLBAR Click the Parrot icon in your Chrome toolbar to type any Spanish word or phrase and translate it. The popup also shows how many words you know and how many you are learning. YOU CONTROL THE HIGHLIGHTS Turn word highlights on or off at any time from the toolbar popup. You can also hide the highlights for new words and only show the words you are learning. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ WHO IT IS FOR ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ • Beginners who want to start reading simple Spanish online and build vocabulary step by step • Intermediate learners who are ready for real Spanish content but still need help with new words • Advanced learners who want to find and fill the gaps in their vocabulary • Students learning Spanish for school or university • Travelers getting ready for a trip to Spain, Mexico, or Latin America • Heritage speakers who want to strengthen their reading • Anyone who uses the Parrot app and wants to keep learning on the computer ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ WHY READING HELPS YOU LEARN SPANISH ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Reading real Spanish is one of the best ways to grow your vocabulary and to learn how words are really used. The challenge is to find content at the right level and to keep track of new words without stopping all the time. Parrot shows you which words are new, translates them when you need it, and saves them for practice. Each article you read helps you learn. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ABOUT PARROT ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Parrot is a Spanish learning app that helps you speak Spanish fast with short videos, real native content, and daily practice. Parrot tracks every word you learn in your personal dictionary. Read the full privacy policy: https://app.parrotapp.com/privacy ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Do I need a Parrot account? Yes. Parrot uses your personal dictionary to show which words you know, and it saves new words to your account. You can create an account at app.parrotapp.com or in the Parrot app. Which languages does it support? Parrot reads Spanish and translates it to English. Does it work on every website? It works on most websites that show Spanish text. Chrome does not allow extensions on some pages, such as the Chrome Web Store and Chrome settings pages. Why is a word not highlighted? Words you already know have no color. Text in English, code, forms, and text boxes is also not highlighted. If the highlights are off, turn them on in the toolbar popup. Will it slow down websites? No. Parrot colors words with a built-in Chrome feature that does not change the page, and it only does work on pages with Spanish text. How do I translate a word inside a link? Hold Alt (Option on Mac) and click the word. A normal click still opens the link. Do my saved words appear in the Parrot app? Yes. Words and phrases you save or mark as known are saved to your Parrot account and appear in the app. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ HELP AND FEEDBACK ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Questions, problems, or ideas?
