Overview
Register and verify digital art provenance. Protect your artwork and detect Lantern IDs across the web.
WHAT'S NEW IN v1.5.2 Right-click verify is far more reliable, especially the first time you use it. The extension used to give itself two seconds between your right-click and your menu selection; if you took longer (which almost everyone does the first time, while hunting for the menu item) it lost track of which image you meant and quietly did nothing. On overlay-heavy sites, where that was the only way it could tell, this made the very first attempt fail for most people. When image matching can't be reached, verify now says so instead of reporting "no match found". A service problem and a genuine no-match used to look identical. FROM v1.5.1 Lantern's registry now lives on the Base main network, so every registration is a permanent public record. The "View on Basescan" link in the creator card now always points at the record's actual home on the chain. FROM v1.5.0 Registering your own work now shows as verified right away. Previously a "not found" result could stay cached for a few minutes after you registered. The register form now checks up front whether you've verified the platform you're on, and offers to switch to "Other" so you don't fill out the whole form only to be turned away. Editing the Source URL in the register form now updates the detected platform automatically, so a corrected link no longer gets rejected. After registering, a "Copy verify link" button lets you share your registration anywhere in one click. The register button now shows real progress (Fingerprinting, Submitting to chain, Confirming) instead of a single frozen "Registering..." The right-click menu item is now labeled "Verify with Lantern" so it is clear what it does. Verified results refresh faster after a creator revokes a registration. Shorter descriptions are allowed when registering (4 characters, down from 10), so labels like "sketch" work. HOW IT WORKS On the 14 supported art and social platforms (the full list is in the extension's settings and at lantern-us.com/platforms), the extension watches for Lantern IDs in posts and comments and attaches a small pin to each one. Hover the pin for status, click for the full creator card (name, linked accounts, on-chain status). Right-click any image on any website and select Lantern to look it up directly. The popup tells you if it's registered and shows the creator, or offers to register it (if you're signed in). WHAT THE PINS MEAN Sage (Verified Creator): the creator has linked and proven ownership of social accounts. Gray (Unverified Creator): the work is registered but the creator hasn't verified their identity. Amber (Disputed): someone has filed a dispute against this registration. Terracotta (Revoked): the creator has revoked this registration. CREATOR CROSS-REFERENCE When you're on a supported platform, the extension checks whether the page author matches the registered creator. Reposts that claim someone else's Lantern ID get flagged. PRIVACY No browsing data is collected. Images you right-click are sent to the Lantern API only to look up the hash; they are not stored. Your Lantern token is only sent to api.lantern-us.com. Results are cached locally for one hour. Full privacy policy: https://lantern-us.com/privacy.html Lantern is a free, open provenance system. Learn more at https://lantern-us.com.
