Better X — A calmer, more focused X Better X gives you more control over X by reducing distracting content, simplifying the interface, and helping you focus on the posts that matter. By default, Better X keeps your Home timeline on the chronological “Following” feed and hides the algorithmic “For You” feed. It also removes distracting sidebar content, unnecessary navigation items, post badges, and other visual clutter. Every setting is configurable from the extension popup. Changes are applied immediately to open X pages, and your preferences are synchronized through Chrome. Features Home Timeline • Use the chronological “Following” timeline by default • Hide the algorithmic “For You” timeline • Automatically return to “Following” if X switches timelines • Hide the post composer above the timeline • Automatically hide the timeline header while scrolling down • Show the timeline header again when scrolling up • Keep the “Following” title centered across the entire header • Remove unnecessary timeline navigation controls Right Sidebar Individually show or hide: • Search bar • “What’s happening” • “Who to follow” • Grok floating button • Chat floating button Better X applies these rules before the sidebar is rendered, helping prevent hidden content and loading placeholders from flashing during page refreshes. Left Navigation Choose which navigation items to display: • Explore • Follow suggestions • Notifications • Messages • Grok • Premium • Bookmarks • Communities • Lists • Articles • Jobs • Profile • More Better X also provides a cleaner compact navigation layout: • Show navigation icons without labels by default • Reveal all labels when hovering over the navigation area • Hide the post button while navigation is collapsed • Keep all navigation items visible without an internal scrollbar • Simplify the account area and keep the menu button aligned with navigation icons Post Cards Reduce visual clutter inside posts by showing or hiding: • Account ID, such as @username • Verified badge • Affiliation badge • Ask Grok button These settings also apply to quoted posts where supported.
