Better Sidebar Web Agent Connector

Lets Better Sidebar's Web Agent operate the tabs you choose. Requires Better Sidebar.

Web Agent Connector is a small companion extension for Better Sidebar for Gemini & AI Studio. It lets Better Sidebar's Web Agent read and operate the web pages you hand to it: clicking, typing and running scripts in the tabs you choose, while you watch and approve each step. It does nothing on its own. Without Better Sidebar installed, it stays idle. --- 🔌 WHY A SEPARATE EXTENSION? The Web Agent works through Chrome's page debugger (the "debugger" permission). Chrome only allows this permission as a required one, and adding it to Better Sidebar would switch Better Sidebar off for every existing user until they approved it again. Keeping it in a separate extension means only the people who want the Web Agent ever grant it. --- 🧭 WHAT IT DOES • Attaches Chrome's debugger only to the tabs you give to the Web Agent from Better Sidebar • Passes page commands from Better Sidebar to those tabs, and nothing else • Shows which tabs are being controlled right now when you click its toolbar icon --- 🛡 GUARDRAILS • Only Better Sidebar can talk to it. Websites and other extensions get no answer. • Chrome shows its "started debugging this browser" bar on every controlled tab. Press Cancel on that bar and the task stops right away. • Disconnect all: release every controlled tab with one click from the toolbar icon. • Pause: refuse all page control until you turn it back on. The pause stays on across browser restarts. • Never operates Gemini, AI Studio, the Chrome Web Store, Google sign-in pages, or browser pages such as chrome://. If a controlled tab navigates to one of them, it is disconnected. • Only page-level commands are passed on: reading the page, mouse and keyboard input, and running scripts inside that page. Commands that reach cookies, network traffic, other tabs or the browser itself are refused. --- 🔒 PRIVACY • The Connector collects nothing, keeps no page content, and sends nothing to any server. • It only stores the IDs of the tabs it is attached to (cleared when the browser closes) and your Pause setting. • What the Web Agent reads from a page is handled by Better Sidebar and becomes part of your own Gemini conversation, the same as anything you type there yourself. --- 🚀 HOW TO USE 1. Install Better Sidebar for Gemini & AI Studio and turn on the Web Agent (Power Pack feature). Better Sidebar shows a short risk notice first. 2. When Better Sidebar asks for it, install this Connector. 3. In Gemini, type ">Web Agent" followed by your task. Or right-click any page and choose "Let Web Agent work on this page". 4. The task runs in Chrome's side panel.
