Better for YouTube
Overview
Play loaded YouTube videos in a visible queue, in order or shuffled.
Better for YouTube is a local Chrome extension for youtube.com. It adds exact public publish times when available, turns loaded videos into a visible playback queue, and organizes subscriptions into local folders. Use it to: - Play loaded home-feed or subscription videos without waiting for more cards to load - See exact public publish times to the minute in your local timezone without hovering each card; original relative times remain - File subscribed channels into local folders and play one folder from the subscriptions feed - Play all loaded videos from a bounded shelf or a regular playlist, including Watch Later - See the current video and what comes next - Shuffle only the remaining upcoming videos, then restore their original relative order - Keep using Previous after the queue finishes, until you leave for an outside video - Turn Detailed publish time, Continuous playback queue, and Subscription categories on or off independently; refresh YouTube pages to apply changes Better for YouTube works only on https://www.youtube.com/. When Detailed publish time is on, it uses YouTube’s same-origin player endpoint to check loaded videos with at most two requests in flight and one check per video per tab. It reads only the video ID and public publishDate, keeps video-to-time mappings only in the current tab’s memory, and silently retains YouTube’s original time when details are unavailable. It does not replace the YouTube player, skip ads, download videos, or change recommendations. Queue, video, channel, subscription, and page data stay on this computer. Optional anonymous product analytics are off by default and independent of feature switches. They send only fixed categories and ranges to Google Analytics when you explicitly turn them on; they never include website content, browsing history, account identifiers, or free text. The events are used only to improve product features and reliability. You can turn analytics off at any time in the extension options; doing so stops future events and releases the optional Google Analytics permission. Google Analytics retains sent event and user data for 2 months, and new activity does not reset that period. Better for YouTube is not affiliated with YouTube or Google LLC. YouTube is a trademark of Google LLC.
