Better for YouTube Music

YouTube Music in Material 3 Expressive: synced karaoke lyrics, colors from the album art, a wavy progress bar and a lighter app.

Better for YouTube Music redesigns YouTube Music in Google's Material 3 Expressive style, adds time-synced lyrics and makes the app lighter to run. LOOK • Dynamic color: the whole app takes its palette from the album art of what's playing. • A wavy progress bar that animates while music plays and rests flat when paused. • A shape-morphing play button, tonal surfaces, rounded menus and springy motion. • Minimal mode: YouTube Music without the clutter. Extra actions appear on hover. LYRICS • Time-synced lyrics from LRCLIB in the Lyrics tab, with a karaoke fill that sweeps through each word letter by letter. • Tap a line to jump to it. Instrumental breaks show breathing dots. • Fullscreen lyrics: big text over the album's colors and only the playback controls. FASTER • Telemetry and ad-tracking requests are blocked. Play counts still reach artists. • Off-screen shelves and rows aren't laid out or painted until you scroll to them. • No live background blurs or JavaScript ripple effects. • Video saver: music videos stream at low quality while you aren't looking at them. • Chrome's own GPU animations instead of YouTube Music's JavaScript polyfill. BETTER • Scroll over the player bar to change volume, in fine steps, even below 6%. • "Still listening?" is dismissed automatically. • Premium upsell banners and pop-ups are hidden. Every feature is a switch in the popup and applies instantly. No account, no tracking. Not affiliated with YouTube or Google. Lyrics are provided by LRCLIB (lrclib.net).
