Better Crag

theCrag as a guidebook: zoomable topos, route filters, quick ticks, and walls saved for offline use.

Better Crag turns theCrag (thecrag.com) into a guidebook you can read on your phone at the crag. It shows theCrag's own data, with your own theCrag account, laid out like a printed topo guide. It is not made by or affiliated with theCrag. One switch in the popup brings back theCrag's own pages. • Walls as a guidebook: each topo with its routes right under it, numbered and coloured like theCrag's labels: [86] Caribbean Wedding ······ 7a ★★. • Route pages that answer "can I do it, where does it start, how do I get down": grade, pitch table, gear and descent, and a topo even when the route isn't drawn. • Crag pages for planning: when to go, the grade spread, and every area with its grade bar. • Topo viewer: full screen, pinch and zoom, tap a line to see the route; on a laptop the route list sits beside the photo. • Big, obvious actions: Tick, To-do and Favourite where your thumb is. • Route filters: grade range in the crag's own grade system, stars, style and "on a topo", with live counts. • Quick tick: log a climb in one step. With no signal, the tick waits on your device and is sent when you're back online. • Getting there: parking, approach time and every coordinate in the approach text, opening in Apple Maps, Google Maps, Organic Maps or OsmAnd. • Sun & shade: "Shade until 15:25" for each wall, worked out on your device from its aspect and theCrag's notes. • Offline walls: save the walls you plan to climb, with their topos, and read them with no signal. Everything stays on your device. No account, no analytics, no ads, no servers of our own. This is a beta. Feedback: brantscube@gmail.com
