Overview

Show only videos from channels you subscribe to. Everything else on YouTube gets hidden.

**YTFocus is for people who want to use YouTube as a learning tool without letting YouTube turn their study session into a two-hour scrolling session.** ## What YTFocus does YTFocus is a Chrome extension that turns YouTube from an **open-ended entertainment feed into a controlled study and focus environment**. It helps users: - **See only channels they choose** — removes or blurs videos from channels they don't follow across Home, Search, Trending, and Watch Next. - **Block Shorts** — removes Shorts from listings and can block directly opened Shorts. - **Enable Exam Mode** — turns on all major restrictions at once, hides comments and distracting sidebar categories, and removes Shorts. - **Use a Focus Timer** — choose 25- or 50-minute study sessions and get prompted when the session ends. - **Set a Daily Watch Budget** — limit how many minutes of YouTube you can actually watch each day. - **Filter by Study Topics** — show videos related to subjects you care about, such as Physics, Biology, or History. - **Track your behavior** — see how many videos/Shorts you've blocked and how much you've watched or focused. - **Use smarter AI filtering with Pro** — the system can understand the actual topic of a video rather than relying only on keywords. - **Sync settings and use exam packs with Pro** — useful for students preparing for exams such as JEE, NEET, or UPSC. ## Why should someone install it? The main reason is **YouTube is designed to keep you watching, while YTFocus is designed to help you stop when you should.** A student might open YouTube to watch a 20-minute Physics lecture and then get pulled into recommendations, Shorts, trending videos, or unrelated content. YTFocus puts a layer of control between the user and that distraction. ### The biggest benefits **1\. Less distraction**\ Instead of fighting YouTube's recommendation algorithm every time you open it, YTFocus automatically removes much of the content you don't want to see. **2\. Better study discipline**\ Exam Mode, the focus timer, and the daily watch budget turn vague intentions like _"I'll only watch YouTube for a little while"_ into actual limits. **3\. You can still use YouTube for learning**\ It doesn't require giving up YouTube. You can keep the channels and educational content you need while filtering out the rabbit holes. **4\. Especially useful during exam preparation**\ For JEE/NEET/UPSC students, the combination of channel filtering, study-topic filtering, Shorts blocking, and Exam Mode makes YouTube much more purposeful. **5\. Privacy-friendly**\ The core features run locally in the browser. There's **no account required**, and the free on-device features don't send your browsing activity away from your browser. **6\. The free version is genuinely useful**\ You don't need Pro to get the fundamental distraction-blocking features. Pro is mainly for AI/semantic filtering, cloud sync, and curated exam packs.
