LOIS watches the pages you open. It stays quiet on ordinary pages and steps in when a page shows multiple signs of a scam. When LOIS steps in, it covers the page with one plain warning and one large green button: "Take me back to safety." The warning says what LOIS found, in plain words. WHAT LOIS LOOKS FOR - Gift card or urgent payment requests - Locked-account pages asking for a password - Telephone numbers paired with "call now" pressure - Requests for a card PIN or wallet recovery phrase - Requests to control your computer remotely - Suspicious web addresses posing as familiar companies WHEN LOIS STEPS IN 1. Do not type anything. 2. Do not call a telephone number shown on the page. 3. Press "Take me back to safety." 4. If you are unsure, close the browser and ask someone you trust. FOR THE PERSON WHO HELPS - OK list. After an eight-second pause and a second confirmation, a known site can be allowed. Remove a site from the OK list and LOIS checks it again. - Local counts. Pages stopped, times the person went back, and times they went on. A rising "went on" count is a reason for a calm conversation. PRIVATE BY CONSTRUCTION LOIS checks each page on your own computer. It does not read what you type into forms, keep a list of the pages you visit, show advertisements, create an account, or send page data to the internet. Removing LOIS removes its settings and counts. GOOD TO KNOW A warning is a prompt to stop and verify, not proof of fraud. A quiet page is not a guarantee of safety.
