Overview
Record a browser tab, a window or your screen, and open it in the Kape studio. Nothing leaves your computer.
Record a browser tab, a window or your screen, and open the recording in the Kape studio — in your browser, with nothing uploaded. FEATURES • Tab, window or screen. A tab is recorded at its exact size, with nothing but the page in the picture. • A three-second countdown, so you can get the mouse where you want it. Off if you like. • A small floating control with the time and a Stop button. It stays on top and is never in the recording. • Tab audio — the sound the page makes — with one switch. Your microphone with another. • Keyboard: Alt+Shift+K opens the recorder, Alt+Shift+R starts and stops with your last settings. • When you stop, the recording opens in the Kape studio (kape.kalter.tech/studio): put it on a background, round the corners, crop, trim, and export an MP4. All in the browser. HOW TO USE 1. Open the page you want to record and click the Kape icon, or press Alt+Shift+K. 2. Choose Tab, Window or Screen. Switch on tab audio or the microphone if you want sound. 3. Press Start recording. After the countdown, it records. 4. Press Stop on the floating control, in the recorder's window, with Escape, or with Alt+Shift+R. 5. The recording opens in the studio. Export from there to keep it — the recorder itself writes no files. PRIVACY Nothing is uploaded and there is no account. The extension has no server, no analytics, and makes no network requests of its own. It runs nothing on the pages you record and reads nothing from them. Your settings — source, countdown, sound switches — stay on your computer. The full policy: https://kape.kalter.tech/privacy PERMISSIONS • "Read and change your data on kape.kalter.tech" — that is the Kape studio. This is how the recording gets from the recorder into the studio page. The extension runs there and nowhere else. • Capturing a tab, a window or the screen happens only when you press Start. For a window or the screen, Chrome asks you to pick one each time. • The microphone is asked for once, by Chrome, when you switch it on. GOOD TO KNOW • Chrome's own pages (chrome://) cannot be recorded as a tab. Pick Window or Screen for those. • Tab audio is for tab recordings. A window or screen recording has no sound unless you switch on the microphone. SUPPORT Questions or a bug: contact@kalter.tech. Made by Kaltër Technologies. Version 0.1.0 — first release.
