UX Captions transcribes what the streamer says and translates chat as it scrolls — so a channel in a language you don't read stops being a wall of text and a voice you can't follow. EVERYTHING RUNS ON YOUR OWN COMPUTER No account, no API key, no sign-up. Your audio and the chat you read are never uploaded, because there is no server to upload them to. LIVE CAPTIONS Words appear as they are spoken and settle into a final line when the sentence finishes, so you are not waiting on a pause to read anything. CHAT TRANSLATION, BOTH WAYS Incoming: a quiet translated line appears under each foreign message, and the original stays exactly as it is — same colours, badges and emotes — so you can always see what was actually said. Outgoing: type your reply in your own language, press Translate, and it comes back in the streamer's — so you can actually talk to a channel instead of only reading it. You see the translation before it goes anywhere, and you press Send yourself; the extension never sends a message on your behalf. READ ALONG ON A FULL PAGE Captions over a player are gone in seconds. Open the reading view and they arrive there too, at a size you can actually read, with the original underneath — scroll back to check something and it holds your place instead of dragging you forward. ASK WHAT YOU MISSED The same page can recap the last few minutes of the stream and answer questions about it — what the topics were, what chat was reacting to. It reads the captions and the chat it already has, and, if you switch on Visual context, a few still frames of the player as well. That runs on Chrome's built-in on-device model, so none of it is sent anywhere, and the page shows you exactly what the answer was drawn from — the lines, and the frames. WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW BEFORE INSTALLING - Captions start from a button in the popup. Chrome only allows tab audio capture from a click, so they cannot start on their own. - Captions download a speech model on first use (roughly 200 MB–1.6 GB depending on the model you pick — the popup names the size before you press Start, and lets you download ahead of time). - The recap and the questions need Chrome's own built-in on-device AI, which Chrome downloads once and shares across the browser. Captions and chat translation work without it. - Requires Chrome 138 or newer on desktop. - Not affiliated with or endorsed by Twitch or Kick. - Available in 20 languages.
