TabCrew
Overview
Gives your AI agents their own isolated tabs in your browser, via the local TabCrew daemon or your TabCrew Online account.
TabCrew lets the AI agents you run on your own computer (OpenCode, Claude Code or any other MCP client) use your real browser, safely side by side. EVERY AGENT GETS ITS OWN TABS Each agent opens a private session with its own tabs. By default they all open in one TabCrew window, in a shared "TabCrew" tab group, so a new agent starts in a fraction of a second. Agents can also use named groups, or each get its own window. Agents can't see or touch your tabs or your tab groups, and they can't see or touch each other's tabs, even inside a shared group. Run several at once. YOU STAY IN CONTROL • The toolbar popup lists every running session. Show brings its tab to the front; Stop ends it immediately; Stop all ends everything. • Choose where agent tabs open: one TabCrew window with a shared group (default, fastest to start), their own window each (best for many busy agents at once), or your current window. Agents never switch the tab you are looking at. • Manage TabCrew's tab groups: set the default group name, rename groups, and create new ones for agents to use. Your own tab groups are never touched. • Choose what happens when an agent finishes: keep its tabs in the group for you to review (default), close them, or collect them in one collapsed "✓ TabCrew" group. Either way, the agent loses access to them. WHAT AGENTS CAN DO Agents read pages as a numbered list of buttons, links and fields, then click, type, select and scroll, one checked step at a time. Or they hand over a whole goal with "browse", which runs a fast observe → decide → act loop until the goal is done. They can also navigate, read a page's full text, take screenshots, read console and network diagnostics of their own tabs, and list or rename TabCrew's tab groups. NEEDS THE FREE LOCAL TABCREW DAEMON (OR ONLINE MODE) This extension does nothing on its own. By default it connects only to the TabCrew daemon running on your computer (127.0.0.1). Install it with one command (macOS, Node.js 20 or newer): npx tabcrew setup Setup installs the background service, pairs the extension automatically (no token to copy) and can add TabCrew to OpenCode and Claude Code for you. "browse" needs your own OpenRouter API key, which you can add during setup or later in the popup's Advanced section (it is stored by the local service, not in Chrome); everything else works without one. ONLINE MODE: YOUR BROWSERS FROM ANYWHERE Want agents on another computer, or behind an MCP gateway, to use this browser? Switch Connection to Online, name the browser and sign in with GitHub or Google. Your agents then connect to one address (https://tabcrew.huynle.com/mcp) and can use every browser you signed in, each picked by name. Nothing to install but this extension. The relay passes agent commands and the content of agent tabs between your agents and your browser without storing them; it stores only your account (provider ID, email, name), your browser names and hashed sign-in tokens. Set the AI model provider, key and models for "browse" once, on your account's Model settings page: the relay calls the provider for every connected browser (key stored encrypted, never sent to browsers). A browser can still use its own provider instead. Revoke browsers and agents any time at https://tabcrew.huynle.com/account. LOCKED-DOWN OR CORPORATE CHROME? HUB MODE If your browser policy blocks native messaging, or you don't want a background service, your agent tool can start TabCrew itself ("tabcrew mcp"; see the README). All settings then live in this extension's popup. That includes the AI model provider for "browse": any OpenAI-compatible endpoint, such as OpenRouter, OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini or a self-hosted gateway, with your own key and optional headers. Load the provider's models and pick them from a list, with recommended models marked. The key is stored only in this browser. The extension calls that provider directly, and Chrome asks you to allow access to the provider's site the first time you load its models, test or save. PRIVACY No analytics, no tracking. In the local modes there are no accounts and no TabCrew servers: page content goes only to the TabCrew service on your own computer and, if you use "browse", to the AI model provider you configured with your own key (in hub mode the extension sends it to that provider directly). Online mode is optional; when you turn it on, agent commands and agent tab content pass through the TabCrew relay as described above. Which tabs belong to which agent is kept in this browser only (and forgotten when it restarts). Privacy policy: https://github.com/huynle/tabcrew/blob/main/docs/privacy.md OPEN SOURCE MIT licensed.
