Backsplash
Overview
Tiled start page stored in Chrome. No website required.
Backsplash replaces the new tab page with the sites you actually open. Links sit in tiles, grouped into sections. A Google search stays in the corner. There is no account. Your pages, colors, and layout are stored in Chrome on this computer. Add a link by typing it, dropping it, pasting it, or choosing a bookmark. Name each section, hide the heading, or remove it. Drag tiles and sections into place, and resize a section on the grid. Keep a Home page and a Work page. Open every link in a section as tabs, or as separate windows. Sort a section by the links you use most. Color the page, tiles, titles, addresses, accent, and search. Start from a palette, then change whatever you want. Set tile transparency, show or hide addresses, and pick a shape: rounded, sharp, round, circle, or pill. Icons can be the site’s own, a letter, a picture, or hidden. Add an accent border if you want one. Backgrounds can be plain, grain, linen, dusk, or your own picture. The Style and Edit windows stay on a fixed palette, so changing the page colors does not make the controls hard to read. Export a backup and import it later. Bookmarks are read only when you choose to add one. Permissions Storage saves your links, colors, and layout on this computer. Bookmarks is used only when you add a tile from a bookmark.
