Overview

See who doesn't follow you back on Threads, protect the accounts you want to keep, and tidy your following list at your own pace.

Your Threads following list only ever grows. You follow back during a growth push, you follow an account for a single post, you follow people who never follow you back — and a few months later the list no longer reflects who you actually want to read. Backgap is a followers tracker and bulk unfollow tool for Threads. It scans your following list, compares it against your followers, and shows you in one table exactly who doesn't follow you back. From there you can unfollow in bulk, or work through the list one account at a time, at a speed you set yourself. Everything runs inside your own Threads tab, in the browser where you are already signed in. There is no password to hand over and no account to connect. WHAT YOU GET ▸ See who doesn't follow you back One scan reads your entire following list and marks every account that never followed back. The table shows the username, display name, follower count, whether the account is verified or private, and whether it follows you — so you can judge each one without leaving the page. ▸ Unfollow in bulk, or one at a time Clear everyone who doesn't follow back in a single run, or work through your whole following list. Every row also has its own button, for the times you only want to remove one account. ▸ You set the pace Choose the delay between actions, from a few seconds to several minutes. Nothing ever moves faster than the interval you picked, and the extension holds that pace even when a run takes hours. ▸ Shield the accounts you can't afford to lose Mark friends, clients, family or anyone else with the shield and they are skipped in every bulk run, now and in future ones. The shield survives restarts and new scans. ▸ Skip verified and mutual accounts automatically Two switches keep verified accounts and people who already follow you out of every bulk action, so one careless click cannot cost you a mutual connection. ▸ Stop whenever you want Stop is one click away during both the scan and the unfollow run, and it takes effect on the next action rather than at the end of a long wait. ▸ Watch the whole thing happen Live progress shows how many accounts have been read, how many are left, the percentage done and an estimate of the time remaining — alongside running counts of followers, following, non-followers, unfollowed and failed. ▸ Works in your language The interface is available in more than fifty languages, including right-to-left layouts, with numbers and times formatted the way your region writes them. HOW IT WORKS 1. Install Backgap and sign in with Google. Signing in is what keeps your settings and your protected accounts attached to you rather than to one browser. 2. Open Threads in the same browser, signed in to your own account. If no Threads tab is open, Backgap opens one for you — you are never told to go and do it yourself. 3. Click Start. Backgap reads your following and followers lists straight from the page you already have open, page by page, filling the table as it goes. 4. Review the result. Sort the table, filter it down to the accounts that don't follow back, shield anyone you want to keep, and choose the delay between actions. 5. Run it. Unfollow the accounts you selected and watch the progress, the counts and the time left — and stop at any moment if you change your mind. WHO IT IS FOR • Creators who followed back during a growth push — Hundreds of accounts followed in a few weeks, most of which never followed back. One scan tells you which ones. • People returning after months away — A feed full of accounts you no longer recognize, and no memory of why you followed them. • Anyone running a brand or client account — A following list that should look deliberate, with partners and clients protected so they are never removed by accident. • Anyone who just wants a clean list — No growth strategy, no campaign — only a list that matches who you actually read today. YOU STAY IN CONTROL Backgap never acts on its own. Every bulk action asks for confirmation first and tells you exactly how many accounts it is about to touch. The pace is yours, the protected list is yours, and Stop works during both the scan and the run. If Threads asks the extension to slow down, Backgap pauses, shows you a countdown and resumes by itself rather than hammering the site on your behalf. Accounts that fail are counted and shown instead of being quietly skipped. PRIVACY Backgap never asks for your Threads password and never sees it. It works inside your own signed-in Threads tab, which means it acts exactly as you would if you clicked every button by hand. The result of a scan is stored on your own computer rather than on a server, and the accounts you protect with the shield are never touched. Signing in with Google is used only to identify your account: the only details requested are your name, email address and profile picture. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS How do I see who doesn't follow me back on Threads? Open Threads, click Start in Backgap and wait for the scan to finish. The table marks every account you follow that never followed you back, and one switch filters the view down to just those accounts. Can I unfollow everyone on Threads at once? Yes. One button clears everyone who doesn't follow you back, and another works through your entire following list. Both ask for confirmation and show the exact number first. Is it safe to unfollow a lot of accounts in one go? That depends on pace, which is why the delay is yours to set. A longer interval between actions resembles ordinary use far more than a burst of rapid clicks. If Threads asks for a slower pace, Backgap waits and continues on its own. Does Backgap need my Threads password? No. It works inside the Threads tab you are already signed in to, so there is nothing to hand over and nothing for the extension to store. Will it unfollow someone I wanted to keep? Not if you shield them. Shielded accounts are skipped in every bulk run, and you can also switch on automatic skipping for verified accounts and for people who follow you back. Does it work on both threads.com and threads.net? Yes. Threads serves people from both domains and Backgap works on either. How long does a scan take? It depends on how many accounts you follow. Backgap reads the list in pages and shows a live estimate of the time remaining once it has read enough to be accurate. What happens if I close the tab? The result of the last scan is saved, so reopening Backgap shows the table again without scanning from the start. Can I use it on my phone? Backgap is a Chrome extension, so it runs in a desktop browser. You can carry on using Threads on your phone as usual. Backgap keeps your Threads following list honest: the people you actually follow, and the ones who follow you back. Install it, run one scan, and see where you stand. Backgap is an independent tool.
