)Overview
Watch YouTube 360°/VR180 videos and videos on other sites in your PC VR headset via WebXR
video2webxr plays web videos in your VR headset through WebXR. On YouTube A cardboard icon appears in the player. Click it and click Enter VR to watch 360°, VR180, 3D and normal videos in your headset. The projection is detected automatically; you can change it in the dropdown next to the button. On other sites Start the video, click the video2webxr button in the toolbar, pick the projection and click Enter VR, then click the video. The page itself gets no extra controls, so video lightboxes and overlays keep working. In VR - A controls panel: play/pause, seek bar, skip 10 seconds, volume, projection, recenter and exit - Point at the controls with your controllers' lasers and pull the trigger - Move the panel and the flat screen with the bar below them, and resize the screen from its corner - Click the screen to play or pause, double click its left or right side to skip, like YouTube on a phone - Passthrough shows your room around the screen, where the browser supports it (e.g. Chrome Canary on the Steam Frame) Projections - 360°: EAC (how YouTube serves 360° videos), equirectangular and cubemap, mono and 3D - 180°: mono and 3D side by side - Flat screen: normal videos on a virtual screen in front of you, the default on other sites You can switch the projection while in VR. Limitations DRM-protected videos (Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ and similar) can't be shown, because the browser doesn't allow it. Some sites serve videos in a way that can't be read by WebGL; the extension tells you when that's the case. WebXR is currently unavailable in Chrome on Linux.
