Azure DevOps Bulk Branch Deleter
Overview
Adds multi-select checkboxes and safe bulk branch deletion to Azure DevOps branch pages.
Azure DevOps Bulk Branch Deleter adds multi-select checkboxes and safe bulk deletion to the Branches page of Azure DevOps (dev.azure.com and *.visualstudio.com), so you can clean up stale feature branches in seconds instead of deleting them one by one. FEATURES • Bulk select & delete — checkboxes on every branch row plus per-folder "select all," a live selection count, and a single "Delete selected" action. • Protected branches — main, master, develop, development, uat, qa, stage, staging, production, and prod are protected by default and can never be selected or deleted, even by accident. Fully customizable from the popup. • Filter by branch name, author, or authored-date range. • Stale branch detection — flag branches with no activity for 30/60/90/180 days so you can quickly spot cleanup candidates. • Pull request status filter — show merged, open, no-PR, or "safe to clean" (merged with no open PR) branches, with a one-click "Select safe to clean" shortcut. • A fixed-position overlay UI that stays aligned with Azure DevOps's virtualized branch list, even while scrolling or resizing the window. HOW IT WORKS After enabling the extension and refreshing an Azure DevOps repository's Branches page, a selection panel appears over the branch list. Filter and select the branches you want to remove, click "Delete selected," and confirm. Deletions are made using Azure DevOps's own REST API with your existing signed-in session — the extension never asks for or stores separate credentials. PRIVACY This extension stores only your enable/disable toggle and protected-branch list locally in your browser (chrome.storage.local). It does not collect analytics, does not use any third-party servers, and does not transmit your data anywhere. It only communicates with the Azure DevOps organization you are already signed into, and only when you explicitly delete a branch. SAFETY Branch deletion in Azure DevOps is not reversible from the UI once confirmed. Test with disposable branches first, and keep your protected-branches list up to date for any long-lived branches in your workflow. This is an independent, community-built tool and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Microsoft or Azure DevOps.
