Overview

Automatic Picture-in-Picture on tab switch, with one-click toolbar PiP, disabled sites, and safer cleanup.

Free and open source: https://github.com/apotenza92/chrome-auto-pip Automatically opens Picture-in-Picture when you switch away from a tab with a playing video. You can also click the toolbar button to open Picture-in-Picture manually. Version 2.0 keeps the same core experience with a simpler, more reliable foundation: - Attaches to video tabs only when needed - Handles repeated tab switches more consistently - Cleans up after itself more carefully - Leaves websites' own Picture-in-Picture behavior alone - Adds optional debug logs you can download when reporting an issue Required setup: 1. Go to about://flags 2. Enable auto-picture-in-picture-for-video-playback 3. Restart your browser Some Chrome-compatible browsers may also require allowing Automatic picture-in-picture for specific sites from the site information menu in the address bar. Automatic PiP is disabled by default on meeting and chat sites where it can conflict with expected call controls.
