)Overview
Suggests typed values by mid-string and word-boundary match, like Firefox's browser.formfill (prefixWeight/boundaryWeight).
Smart Suggest — mid-string autocomplete for form fields Chrome's built-in autofill only matches from the beginning of a value. So if you once typed example_email@domain.com, typing d will never bring it back. Smart Suggest fixes that: it suggests your previously typed values when your text matches anywhere inside them — in the middle, after a dot, after an @, after an underscore, and so on. It brings Firefox's well-loved browser.formfill behavior to Chrome. What it does Smart Suggest remembers the values you type into normal text fields and offers them back to you in a clean, custom dropdown. The key difference from Chrome's native suggestions is the matching: type any fragment and you'll see every saved value that contains it, ranked so the ones you actually want appear first. Example: you frequently enter example_email@domain.com. Later, typing just d instantly suggests it (because d starts the "domain" segment), instead of only showing values that begin with d. Why install it Stop retyping the same emails, codes, IDs, ticket numbers, and search terms. Find the right value with a single keystroke, even when you only remember the middle of it. Especially useful for internal tools, CRMs, admin panels, and search boxes where the same long values are entered over and over. Key features Mid-string matching: matches your text anywhere inside a saved value, not just at the start. Smart ranking modeled on Firefox: bonus weight for matches at the start of the value (prefixWeight) and at word boundaries (boundaryWeight), combined with how often and how recently you used each value. Per-field history: values are grouped by the field's name, just like Firefox — typing in an "email" field suggests values you entered in "email" fields. Accent-insensitive matching (optional): type without accents and still match accented values. Keyboard friendly: Arrow Up/Down to move, Enter or Tab to accept, Esc to close, Shift+Delete to remove a single suggestion from history. You choose where it runs: open the popup on any page and enable Smart Suggest for that site with one click. It stays silent everywhere else. Fully configurable: adjust the scoring weights, the number of suggestions, minimum characters to show, how long history is kept, and more in the Settings page. Backup and restore: export and import your settings and history as a JSON file. How it works Because Chrome does not allow extensions to modify the browser's native autofill dropdown, Smart Suggest draws its own dropdown (isolated in a Shadow DOM so it never clashes with a page's styles). When you type, it searches your saved values for the fragment, scores each candidate, and shows the best matches. Everything happens locally. Privacy All data — your settings and your typed history — is stored locally on your device using Chrome's local storage. Nothing is ever sent to any server, and the extension requests no network access. For your safety, it never touches password, one-time-code (OTP), or credit-card fields. Getting started Open the page where you want suggestions. Click the Smart Suggest icon and enable the current site, then click Save. Start typing in any field — your past entries appear as you go. (If a page was already open, reload it once.)
