Switch to another tab or app — keep YouTube in view. Auto PiP for YouTube automatically opens your playing video in a floating Picture-in-Picture window when you move to another tab, another Chrome window, or another application. Read, write, code, or browse while your video stays visible. WHAT IT DOES • Opens Picture-in-Picture automatically when you leave a playing YouTube video. • Covers tab changes and switching to other windows or apps. • Closes the PiP window it opened when you return to YouTube. • Leaves manually opened PiP windows alone. • Respects closing the floating window: it waits until you return before trying again. • Lets you turn automatic PiP and the window-switching assistant on or off. Works on YouTube watch pages, live streams and Shorts that support PiP. Paused videos and home-page previews do not trigger it. Interface languages: English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese. PERMISSIONS & PRIVACY The window-switching assistant uses Chrome's debugger permission to request PiP when Chrome would otherwise require a fresh click. It connects only to a YouTube tab for this operation and disconnects immediately afterward. Chrome may display a debugging notification. Turning the assistant off stops this behavior but does not remove the installed permission. Settings are saved locally. The extension does not send your video content, URLs or viewing activity to any server, and includes no ads or analytics. REQUIREMENTS Desktop Chrome 134 or later. Chrome's standard automatic PiP path also depends on site permission, audible playback and browser eligibility rules. DevTools, enterprise policies or videos that disable PiP may prevent operation.
