Overview

Auto History Wipe: a privacy cleaner erasing browsing history, cache and cookies at startup, on exit, on a schedule or in a click.

Auto History Wipe deletes your browsing history automatically, so you never have to remember to do it. This Chrome extension clears history, cookies, cache and other browsing data on autopilot — at startup, when the browser closes, on a timer — or manually in one click. Pick the data, pick the timing, and keep the logins you want. FOUR WAYS TO TRIGGER A CLEAN ▸ At startup — Auto-delete history the moment Chrome opens, so every session starts fresh. On by default. ▸ On exit — Want to auto clear history on exit? "Clean When the Last Window Closes" is on by default: Auto History Wipe erases your history, cache and cookies as soon as the last browser window shuts. Chrome keeps running in the background so the cleanup can finish; if you quit Chrome entirely, it cleans at the next launch instead. The option relies on one optional permission, added during setup and removed if you turn it off. ▸ On a timer — Hourly, every 12 hours, daily or weekly. Nothing is scheduled until you choose an interval. ▸ On demand — Click "Clean Now" in the popup and review the list of what will be deleted before you confirm. Turn on One-Click Clean to skip the popup and clean the instant you click the toolbar icon, or press the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+E (⌘+Shift+E on Mac) from any tab. YOU DECIDE WHAT GETS DELETED Standard items: browsing history, cookies and site data, cached images and files, your download history (the downloaded files themselves stay right where they are), and saved form entries. Advanced items, off until you approve them: saved passwords, Local Storage, Service Workers and IndexedDB. Turning any of these on brings up a confirmation first. Set the time range for every clean: the past hour, day, week or four weeks, or all time. Not sure where to start? Auto History Wipe comes with three ready-made presets that configure everything in one click. Quick handles history and cache while keeping you logged in. Standard throws in cookies, download history and form data. Deep also covers site storage and protected sites. KEEP THE LOGINS YOU CARE ABOUT A history cleaner shouldn't log you out of your email every morning. Add the site you're on to your whitelist from the popup in a single click, or manage the list in Settings. Whitelisted domains hold on to their cookies, cache and site storage, so those logins survive every clean. Rather not maintain a list? Turn on bookmark protection and every site you've bookmarked is covered automatically (bookmarks access is requested only when you enable it). One honest limit: Chrome doesn't let extensions filter history, downloads or form data by domain, so those are cleared for every site. DEEP CLEAN FOR PROTECTED SITES Chrome shields a few of its own services, like Google and YouTube, from regular clearing. Deep Clean removes their data too. Expect to sign back in to some everyday accounts after using it, which is why it's off by default and clearly labeled. PRIVACY YOU CAN VERIFY Look at the permissions before you install: Auto History Wipe can't access the websites you visit, so it can't read your pages. No ads, no account, no analytics, no tracking, and no network requests. Your settings live in Chrome's own storage. The optional statistics (total cleans, a 7-day chart and recent activity) never leave your computer, and you can turn them off. A privacy tool should collect nothing, and this one doesn't. EXTRAS THAT MAKE LIFE EASIER • Setup wizard: a short guided setup opens right after installation. • Backup & restore: move your setup to a new PC or a different browser by exporting it, whitelist included, to a file and importing it there. • Notifications: a quick confirmation after each clean, or none at all. Your call. • 49 languages: the interface language doesn't have to match Chrome's. Display it in your own language, in English, or in both at once. GREAT FOR • Shared family computers, where the next person shouldn't see where you've been • Work laptops that double as your personal machine • Shared PCs at school, the library or the office • Anyone who wants a history eraser that runs without being asked • Freeing up disk space by clearing the cache on a regular basis BEFORE YOU INSTALL • Your bookmarks stay put; nothing in them is ever deleted. • Wiping your browsing history also wipes the tabs Chrome saves: after a crash, "Restore" has nothing to bring back, and recently closed tabs can't be reopened. • Clearing cookies logs you out of sites that aren't on your whitelist. • Searches saved to your Google Account live on Google's servers, where no extension can reach them. Manage them in your Google Account settings. Set your rules once and Auto History Wipe keeps Chrome clean session after session: no reminders, no manual cleanup, just better privacy.
