Overview

Clear Chrome history and selected browsing data on exit, with automatic retry on the next startup.

Auto Clear History on Exit removes selected Chrome browsing data when the last Chrome window closes. Start with the safe default, browsing history only, then decide whether cache, cookies, download history, form data, or local storage should be included. It is built for simple privacy: automatic cleanup, clear confirmation, and no browsing URLs stored or sent. If you need to stay signed in to important sites, add them to Keep login so their domains are excluded from cookie deletion. ### What It Does - Run automatically when the last Chrome window closes - Use clear browsing data on exit with Safe, Standard, and Strong modes - Choose exactly what to remove: history, cache, cookies, downloads, form data, and local storage - Preserve login cookies for trusted sites such as Gmail, GitHub, Notion, Slack, and ChatGPT - See a last-cleanup report so you know it actually ran - Pause automatic cleanup for 30 minutes, 1 hour, the rest of today, or until you resume - Use Clear Now for one-click manual cleanup ### Privacy and Safety - Browsing URLs are not stored or sent - Settings stay in this browser - Default mode removes only local browsing history - Cookie cleanup warns you before signing you out of sites - Saved passwords are never deleted - If a crash or force quit interrupts cleanup, it retries immediately on the next startup ### Best For - Shared computer users - Work or school profiles - Privacy-conscious browsing - People who forget to manually clear history - Users who want automatic cleanup without breaking every login ### Important Notes - This extension removes local Chrome browsing data. It does not delete Google Account search history. To manage that, use Google's Web & App Activity setting. - Cookie cleanup is off by default. When enabled, it signs you out of websites including Google and may pause Chrome Sync. Adding Google to Keep login preserves its cookies. - Cookie cleanup does not remove the Google account itself from your Chrome profile. - Cleanup starts when the last window closes. If Chrome quits or is force-quit before it finishes, cleanup completes immediately on the next startup. - If Chrome's built-in on-exit site-data setting is all you need, no extension is necessary. This extension is for users who also need selectable browsing-history cleanup, exclusions, pause controls, and completion reports.
