Audio Mode lets you listen to YouTube without the video. It asks the player for the lowest quality (144p), hides the picture behind a calm animated overlay, and can skip loading thumbnails and other images. That means less data and less battery when you only want to listen. What it does - One switch (or Alt+Shift+A) turns Audio Mode on or off. It is on by default. - Pins 144p on every video and re-applies it when the video changes - Keeps playing when you switch tabs - Mini-player in the popup: title, seek bar, play/pause, volume, speed - Volume you set carries over to the next video in a playlist - Choose which YouTube tab to control when several are open - Overlay colors: six presets, a custom gradient, video artwork or your own https image - Optional: hide video thumbnails, channel pictures and other images - Presses YouTube's own Skip button when it appears; avoids the "Continue watching?" prompt - Listening stats and an estimate of data saved, stored only on your device Private by design - Runs only on www.youtube.com - Two permissions: storage and declarativeNetRequest - No accounts, no servers, no analytics, no remote code Good to know: YouTube has no public audio-only mode.
