Audio Extractor
Overview
Drop a lecture or webinar into this audio extractor, extract audio from video, and turn any video to MP3, WAV, or M4A.
Need the sound from a video without opening a desktop editor? Audio Extractor is a small Chrome tab for exactly that: drop a clip, pick a format, and download the track. A recorded lecture, a webinar, or a meeting capture rarely needs a full editing suite when all you want is the voice. Add one clip or several, choose MP3, WAV, or M4A, and save each track on its own or the whole set at once. That is the whole job of this audio extractor. 🚀 How it works 1. Click the toolbar icon. The workspace opens with a drop zone. 2. Drop MP4, WebM, or MOV clips, or press Open video to pick them from disk. Each clip gets its own line in the list. 3. Choose MP3, WAV, or M4A. The default format applies to the whole list, and you can change it for a single clip. 4. Press Extract on one line, or Extract all for the whole list, and download when the line shows Done. 🧩 What the audio extractor lets you set 1️⃣ A fragment start and end, when you need only part of the recording. 2️⃣ Bitrate and sample rate for the output track. 3️⃣ Stereo or mono, since mono is often enough for a spoken lecture. 4️⃣ A fade in and a fade out, so the clip does not start or stop abruptly. ➤ Each line shows its own progress, so you can see which clip is still running. ➤ Download saves one finished track, and Download all packs the finished tracks into a ZIP. ➤ Cancel stops the current recording and clears the rest of the queue. ➤ Retry runs a failed clip again without adding it a second time. 🎧 Which format to pick in the extractor MP3 is the safe choice for listening: small, and every phone and car stereo plays it. WAV keeps the sound uncompressed, which suits editing, cleanup, or transcription software that prefers raw audio. M4A is compact and plays well on Apple devices, but it appears only when your browser can record AAC. If you are unsure, start with MP3 and switch later; the extractor keeps your clips in the list, so a second pass takes one click. 📌 Who uses it 💡 Students who want a lecture as audio to replay on a walk or a commute. 💡 Podcasters who recorded an interview on camera and need only the sound. 💡 Teachers who turn a screen recording into a listening exercise. 💡 Anyone who needs to turn a video to MP3 for a phone, or a video to WAV for editing in a DAW. 📄 How the audio extractor works inside the browser Audio Extractor records the selected interval during playback, so processing time depends on clip length and encoding. M4A is available only if the browser passes an AAC recording test; otherwise choose MP3 or WAV. The input file must contain audio that Chrome can play. Keep the tab open until extraction finishes. - If a clip has no audio track, the extractor says so instead of producing an empty download. - If a clip is over the size limit, you see the limit and can trim the clip or pick a smaller one. - If a track does not come out cleanly, try another output format or another source. ❓ Questions people ask Which formats does it accept? MP4, WebM, and MOV, as long as Chrome can play the audio inside them. Can I extract audio from video in a batch? Yes. Drop several clips, set the format once, and press Extract all. Why is M4A unavailable? Your browser did not pass the AAC recording test. MP3 and WAV still work. Can I keep only a part of a long recording? Yes. Set the fragment start and end before you press Extract. Does the output keep the original quality? It keeps what you choose: pick a higher bitrate or WAV when quality matters more than size. A typical case: a colleague sends a two-hour webinar and you need only the talk. Drop it into the audio extractor, set the format to MP3, and download the result. The big editor stays closed for work that actually needs a timeline. Another one: a rehearsal take recorded on a phone that has to become audio before the morning. Drop it, choose WAV, and the track is ready to import into your editing software. When the job is done, close the tab and go back to the document that needed the sound. Audio Extractor stays pinned in the toolbar for the next time you need to extract audio from video.
