Audio Extractor from Video helps you extract sound from video and save the audio track as MP3, WAV or M4A. Turn a video on your computer into a separate audio file for listening, sharing or further editing. Your original video stays unchanged. 🎵 Video to MP3, WAV or M4A Use MP4 to MP3 conversion to make a compact listening copy, or convert MP4 to WAV when you want uncompressed audio for an editing project. The same workflow supports common video files such as MOV, AVI, MKV, WebM and MPEG, depending on the audio codec inside them. Choose from three output formats: • MP3 for everyday listening and smaller files. • WAV for uncompressed 16-bit PCM audio. • M4A for AAC audio when you prefer another compressed format. Convert MOV to MP3 for a listening copy, save a WebM soundtrack as MP3, or extract audio from MKV. For MP4 to M4A conversion, choose M4A as the output format. Use a video file stored on your computer; streaming links are not supported. ⚙️ How to extract audio from video 1. Click the extension icon to open its workspace in a separate Chrome tab. 2. Choose a video from your computer. Preview it when the browser supports playback. 3. Select MP3, WAV or M4A. Keep the full track or enable a time range. 4. Select Extract audio. The completed audio file downloads automatically. A progress indicator shows the extraction process. You can cancel it if you selected the wrong settings, then try again. To save another output format from the same video, change the format and extract again without choosing the file a second time. ✂️ Keep a clip or the full soundtrack Set a start and end time to extract part of the audio from a video. Keep one answer from an interview, a section of a presentation or a short passage from a recording instead of exporting the entire track. Leave the range option off to save the full audio. • MP3 and M4A offer 128, 192, 256 and 320 kbps bitrate choices. Use a lower bitrate when file size matters or a higher one when you prefer less compression. • WAV preserves the source sample rate and uses uncompressed PCM. Changing the output format does not restore detail already lost in a compressed recording. 💻 Local processing, including offline use The Chrome extension processes the selected video on your computer. Your file is not uploaded to a conversion server, and no account is required. After installation, you can convert video to audio offline with the bundled conversion engine. The extension opens its own workspace rather than running inside the websites you visit. It does not request access to their pages or require browser permissions. This makes it practical for working with saved interviews, lecture recordings, presentation clips and personal videos without sending them to an online audio service. ℹ️ What to expect from the result • Work with one video at a time. • The extension exports the default audio track, or the first audio track when no default is marked, as stereo audio. It separates the existing soundtrack from the video; it does not isolate voices, remove background music or separate instruments. • The input limit is 128 MiB for the whole video, even when you select a short time range. • The output limit is 256 MiB. • If a WAV export would exceed that limit, choose a shorter range or a compressed format. The video must contain a supported audio track. Playback in the preview depends on the browser's codecs, so preview availability and extraction compatibility can differ.
