Open PDF and image attachments right inside Gmail. Check what you attached in compose, reply or forward before you hit Send, without Gmail downloading the file. Attachment Preview adds a Preview button under PDF and image attachments in Gmail. Click it and the file opens in a viewer on top of your inbox. Read it, scroll it, press Esc, and you are back where you were. WHAT IT DOES - PDFs open in a built-in viewer inside Gmail. Scroll every page, with a page counter and sharp text you can select and copy. - Images (PNG, JPG, GIF, WebP) open in the same viewer, sized to fit your screen. - Every other attachment gets an "Open in new tab" button. Text files and other types Chrome can display open in a tab instead of downloading. Files Chrome cannot display, such as Word or Excel files, still download from that tab. - Works in opened emails and in compose, reply and forward. In compose, Gmail downloads when you click an attachment chip; Preview lets you check the file without downloading. - Long PDFs stay fast as you scroll. - Password-protected PDFs ask for the password right in the viewer, and it's never stored or sent. WHY PEOPLE USE IT - Never send the wrong attachment: preview it in the compose window first (Gmail has no native compose preview). - Stay in the thread with an overlay and page counter, instead of jumping into a full-screen viewer. - Keep Preview working even when the Adobe Acrobat extension is installed (Acrobat takes over Gmail's own PDF click). PRIVATE BY DESIGN - Everything happens in your browser. The extension loads the attachment you clicked from Gmail, using your own signed-in session, and shows it on your screen. - No account, no tracking, no analytics, no ads, and no servers of ours. Nothing about you or your email is collected or sent anywhere. - If you open a password-protected PDF, the password is used only to open that file and is never stored, logged or transmitted. - The PDF viewer is Mozilla's open-source pdf.js, bundled inside the extension. No code is loaded from the internet. KEYBOARD FRIENDLY - Preview is a real button with a clear label for screen readers. - Esc or the close button closes the viewer and puts focus back where you were. HOW TO USE 1. Open an email with an attachment, or attach a file to a new message. 2. Click Preview under a PDF or image, or "Open in new tab" under any other file. 3. Press Esc to close. WORKS ON Gmail on the web (mail.google.com) in Chrome on Windows, Mac and Chromebook. It does not change the Gmail mobile apps. After you have used it for a while, the extension may ask once whether you want to rate it. You can turn that off with one click.
