Quickly find forms, contacts, menus, buttons, and other important areas on any webpage. Accessible Shortcuts is a free extension for Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox that helps keyboard and screen reader users navigate the web with greater autonomy. Instead of scrolling through dozens or hundreds of elements to find a specific piece of information, form, or section, you can create custom shortcuts for the places you visit most, generate smart content summaries, describe images, and ask questions using Artificial Intelligence. MAIN FEATURES: • Create custom shortcuts for any element on a page; • Smart page summaries powered by AI; • Automatic image description; • Interactive chat to answer questions about pages and images; • Full shortcut management; • Export and import configurations; • Accessible integration with screen readers. With this extension, you will be able to create shortcuts accessibly to focus on elements within a webpage. You will also leverage artificial intelligence to describe images, generate smart summaries of page content, and ask questions in real-time through an interactive chat. IMPORTANT NOTICE ABOUT ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE: To use the AI features (Summaries, Image Descriptions, and Chat), the extension operates on a "Bring Your Own Key" (BYOK) model. This means you can insert your own free Gemini API key (easily generated at Google AI Studio). This approach ensures you have your own exclusive usage quota with no ads, no shared limits, and complete data privacy. ACCESSIBLE SHORTCUTS MENU: The extension now features a dedicated menu called "Accessible Shortcuts." You can access it by right-clicking anywhere on the page or by pressing the Applications key (or Shift + F10) on your keyboard. Inside this menu, you will find all the main features and default shortcuts of the extension, significantly improving quick access to options without needing to memorize all key combinations right away. ADDING A NEW SHORTCUT: Simply use the "add shortcut" command. A sound will play, and you can navigate using Tab or Shift + Tab to focus on an element on the page, then press the key combination you want to assign to that focused element. By default, the shortcut to add a new shortcut is "Alt + Control + Shift + A" on Windows and "Command + Option + Shift + A" on Mac. After triggering this shortcut, select the element by navigating with Tab or Shift + Tab, and then input your desired key combination. A confirmation box will appear: activate the "OK" button to confirm or "Cancel" to abort. AI PAGE SUMMARY: To get a smart summary of the current page, use the shortcut "Alt + Control + Shift + R" on Windows and "Command + Option + Shift + R" on Mac. The extension will analyze the content and display a summary. The summary is interactive: if there is an important form or button, the link in the summary will include the suffix "(focus on page)". Activating it will move your screen reader's focus directly to that element. If it is an external link, it will indicate "(will open in a new tab)". You will also find a "Generate new summary" button if you wish to refresh the information. Identification and labeling of elements: Now you can accessibly identify and label any element on a page using Gemini's artificial intelligence. Simply focus on the desired element, access the context menu and identify and label it. The AI analyzes the element's context and suggests a likely label. You have the freedom to edit with the label you believe is most appropriate. The labels you create are saved locally and automatically applied every time the page is loaded. We've also added a dedicated area in settings for you to manage, edit or delete your custom labels. DESCRIBING AN IMAGE: To describe an image, use the shortcut "Alt + Control + Shift + D" on Windows and "Command + Option + Shift + D" on Mac. Select an image from your computer and activate the "Describe image" button. You can also use the "Describe image from clipboard" button to get a description of a screenshot or a copied image (from WhatsApp Web, for example). CHATTING WITH THE AI: After generating a summary or describing an image, you can ask specific questions about the content. At the bottom of the summary or image description window, there will be an edit field labeled "Ask something about the page or image." Type your question and press Enter or activate the "Ask" button. The AI's response will appear right below your question and will be read automatically by your screen reader. You can continue the conversation as long as the modal remains open. The Page Summary, Image Description, and Chat features use the "Bring Your Own Key" (BYOK) model. This means you use your own free Gemini key, obtained from Google AI Studio. This approach offers: • Free usage under the quota provided by Google; • Enhanced privacy for your data; • Ad-free experience; • Total control over your AI usage. SETTINGS PAGE: The default shortcut to access settings is "Alt + Control + Shift + C" on Windows and "Command + Option + Shift + C" on Mac. In settings, you can check and manage all created shortcuts, manage defaults, and configure your Gemini API Key. The official website provides a simple, accessible step-by-step guide showing how to access Google AI Studio, copy your free access key, and securely save it in the extension. MANAGING SHORTCUTS: Created shortcuts: In the table under the heading "Created shortcuts," you can review your combinations and activate the "Delete" button in the "Action" column to remove a shortcut. Default shortcuts: Under the heading "Default shortcuts," you can edit the extension's own combinations (such as the summary or add-item shortcuts). When you activate "Edit," a sound will play, and you should press your new desired key combination. A confirmation box will be displayed before the new combination is registered. EXPORTING AND IMPORTING SHORTCUTS: You can save your custom shortcuts to use in another browser or as a security backup. On the settings page: Export shortcuts: Activate the "Export shortcuts" button to download a file with the ".as" extension containing all your created combinations. Import and append shortcuts: Activate this button to select a previously saved ".as" shortcut file. The extension will add the new shortcuts to your current list without deleting the ones you already have.
