Overview

Shorten the current tab's URL with AstriMe.

AstriMe is a fast, simple URL shortener that lives right in your Chrome toolbar. Turn the page you’re viewing into a clean, memorable short link in one click – and have it instantly copied, ready to paste anywhere. WHAT ASTRIME DOES AstriMe connects a web dashboard (astri.me) with a focused Chrome extension to make link shortening part of your normal browsing flow: * Grabs the URL of your current tab * Lets you optionally choose a custom alias (e.g. astri.me/launch-deck) * Creates a short link via the AstriMe web app * Automatically copies the short link to your clipboard * Shows a small notification so you know it’s ready to share * Gives you a dashboard on the web to review, copy, and delete your links and see basic click counts Instead of jumping between tabs and pasting URLs into a separate shortener site, AstriMe makes shortening links something you do in a couple of seconds without breaking focus. KEY FEATURES * One-click link shortening from the toolbar Open the AstriMe extension on any page and click “Shorten”. That’s it. The current tab’s URL is sent to AstriMe and turned into a short link. * Custom aliases when you need them Want something human-readable? Add an optional custom slug (alias) like astri.me/launch-deck so your links are easier to remember, say out loud, or drop into slides and documents. * Short link auto-copy As soon as a short link is created, AstriMe copies it to your clipboard and shows a tiny confirmation. You can immediately paste into email, chat, docs, social posts, tickets, or anywhere else you share links. * Clean, personal dashboard The AstriMe web dashboard shows: All of your shortened links Original URLs and their short versions Click counts Creation dates From there you can quickly: Copy a short link again with one click Open the original URL Delete links you no longer need Everything is scoped to your account, so you only see your own links. • Smart sign-in flow AstriMe uses Google sign-in on the web so your links are attached to your account. If you’re not signed in when you try to shorten a link from the extension, AstriMe will open the sign-in page, wait for you to finish, then continue shortening once you’re back. • Optional “auto-shorten on open” In the extension options you can enable “Shorten automatically when the popup opens.” With this turned on, opening the extension is enough to: - Shorten the current page - Copy the short link - Show the link in the popup - Perfect for true one-click workflows. • Configurable base URL (for advanced users) By default the extension talks to https://astri.me. In the options page, you can point it at a different AstriMe instance (for example, a self-hosted or team-specific deployment) and the extension will: - Use that base URL for all API requests - Show the correct host prefix for your aliases (e.g. links.yourcompany.com/) Your settings are stored with Chrome sync, so they follow you to other Chrome profiles where you’re signed in. • Public search for short links On the AstriMe website you can search by alias to see where a short link leads before clicking it, which is handy when you see an AstriMe link in the wild and want to verify the destination. WHY INSTALL ASTRIME? Install AstriMe if you: * Share links constantly at work (tickets, docs, dashboards, decks) and want them shorter and cleaner * Present or write where you need URLs that are easy to read, type, or remember * Want a consistent, branded short domain for your links (with the option to configure your own AstriMe base URL) * Are tired of opening a separate tab or site just to shorten a link * Instead of juggling multiple tools or manually trimming URLs, AstriMe turns link shortening into a natural part of browsing: PERMISSIONS & PRIVACY AstriMe only asks for the permissions it needs to do its job: * Access to the active tab’s URL: so it can shorten the page you’re currently viewing. * Storage: to remember your base URL and “auto-shorten on open” preference. * Notifications: to show a small “Short link copied” notification after shortening. * Communication with the AstriMe site: to create and manage your links via the web app. Your links and stats are stored in your AstriMe account; the extension does not sell or share your browsing data with third parties. If you regularly share URLs and want them to be shorter, smarter, and easier to manage, install AstriMe and turn every link into a clean, memorable shortcut right from your browser.
