Ask Gemini for YouTube (Unofficial) adds an Ask Gemini button to YouTube video thumbnails on Home, Search, Recommendations, Playlists and Shorts. Click it to open YouTube's own Ask Gemini / Ask YouTube panel in a draggable floating window, without leaving the page. Features - Ask from any video thumbnail, including Shorts. - Draggable, resizable and maximizable floating window. - Minimize to a floating bubble and keep the conversation loaded. - Up to 3 conversations in tabs, each with its own native panel. - Close and reopen the same video within 60 seconds without restarting the chat. - Light, dark and automatic themes. - Keyboard shortcut Alt+Shift+G and a context-menu item. - English and Brazilian Portuguese UI. - Local preferences only; no account, analytics or telemetry. How it works The extension opens a same-origin /watch iframe and reuses the native Ask Gemini interface already available in your YouTube session. A main-world media guard prevents the embedded player from downloading or playing video in the background. It does not call private APIs, bypass paywalls or collect data. Requirements - Google Chrome, Brave or Edge 111+. - Mozilla Firefox 142+ (desktop). - A YouTube account/region where the native Ask Gemini / Ask YouTube panel is available. Some videos do not offer the panel; the extension shows a clear unavailable state with a retry action.
