Overview

Download, copy, and search YouTube subtitles instantly. Supports TXT, SRT, auto-detect language, and real-time preview.

Download, copy, and search YouTube subtitles in one click — without leaving the page. Subtitles PRO adds a sidebar panel directly to YouTube watch and live pages. Open any video, press Ctrl+Shift+S, and instantly see the full transcript — searchable, copyable, and ready to download as TXT or SRT. 🎯 WHAT IT DOES - View full subtitles in a scrollable panel on any YouTube video — no switching tabs - Real-time keyword search across the entire transcript with highlighted matches - Copy the full subtitle text to clipboard in one click - Download captions as TXT (plain text) or SRT (timestamped, ready for video editors) - Auto-translated subtitles — access captions in any language YouTube supports, even if the creator didn't add them manually - Autoscroll follows playback; pauses automatically when you scroll manually - Jump to any moment in the video by clicking a subtitle line - Keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+S (Cmd+Shift+S on Mac) to toggle the panel without touching the mouse - Batch subtitle download for multiple videos via the batch page - Send video URL or full transcript to Google NotebookLM as a source — in one click ⚡ HOW IT WORKS 1. Open any YouTube video (watch page or live stream) 2. Press Ctrl+Shift+S or click the extension icon to open the subtitle panel 3. The panel loads the available caption tracks — select a language or enable auto-translation 4. Search, copy, or download the subtitles — or send them to NotebookLM ✅ WHO IT'S FOR - Students and researchers who want to quote, cite, or study video content - Content creators who repurpose YouTube videos into articles, summaries, or newsletters - Language learners who follow subtitles to study pronunciation and vocabulary - Journalists and analysts who need to quickly search spoken content in long videos - Educators who use YouTube videos in class and want to share transcripts - Accessibility users who prefer reading over listening 🔒 PRIVACY Subtitles PRO works entirely within your browser. No personal data, no browsing history, and no subtitle content is sent to our servers. Captions are fetched directly from YouTube's own subtitle API using your active session — the same way the YouTube website does it. Your preferences (language choice, download format, feature toggles) are stored locally on your device via Chrome's storage API. The NotebookLM integration sends data only to Google's own NotebookLM service, using your existing Google session — no credentials pass through our servers. Full privacy policy: https://aselex.app/privacy/subtitles-pro 📋 PERMISSIONS EXPLAINED - scripting — injects the subtitle panel into YouTube pages and reads YouTube's internal player API to fetch caption data - activeTab — scopes panel injection to your currently active tab on user action only - storage — saves your preferences (language, format, feature settings) locally on-device - downloads — saves TXT/SRT subtitle files to your disk when you click Download - cookies — reads your Google session (from notebooklm.google.com) to enable the optional NotebookLM integration - tabs — detects YouTube page navigation to correctly initialize and reset the panel on SPA route changes ❓ FAQ Q: Does it work on live streams? A: Yes. The extension detects both /watch?v= and /live/ URLs and loads available live captions when present. Q: Can I get subtitles in a language other than the video's original? A: Yes. If YouTube offers auto-translation for a video, Subtitles PRO lets you select any target language from the language picker. These are the same translations YouTube itself provides. Q: Does it work on videos with no subtitles? A: If YouTube has no captions (manual or auto-generated) for a video, there is nothing to display — the extension cannot generate subtitles on its own. Q: What's the SRT format good for? A: SRT files include timestamps for each subtitle line. They're compatible with video editors (DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, CapCut), translation tools, and accessibility software. Q: Do I need a NotebookLM account? A: The NotebookLM feature is optional and only works if you're logged in to Google with a NotebookLM-enabled account. You can disable the NLM buttons in the Options page. Q: Does it work on YouTube Music or YouTube Kids? A: No — the extension is scoped to *.youtube.com watch and live pages only. 📞 SUPPORT Website: https://aselex.app Version 1.05.21.1 · © aSelex · All rights reserved
