ASCII VIEWER

Turn the current tab into live ASCII. Clicks, typing, and scrolling still reach the original page.

ASCII VIEWER lets you see the web in characters: adjust density and detail, switch between source color and phosphor style, and keep every frame on this device—nothing is uploaded. Features • Live ASCII rendering while the page stays clickable, typable, and scrollable • Adjustable density, finer detail, saturation, veil, and update rate • Source color or phosphor look, with a custom phosphor color • Classic glyphs or block glyphs • Shortcut Alt+Shift+A (change it in chrome://extensions/shortcuts) How to use 1. Open a regular website and click ASCII VIEWER in the toolbar 2. Press Start; the first time, allow drawing a glyph layer on sites you choose 3. When the card appears, press Share and render, then pick This tab in Chrome’s share bar 4. To stop, press Stop, use the shortcut, or choose Stop sharing in the browser Privacy and permissions • No site access is granted at install time • The glyph layer is requested only when you start on a tab you choose • No network permission—pixels never leave this computer • Only tabs you start are processed Notes • Requires desktop Chrome 132 or newer • chrome:// pages, the Chrome Web Store, and documents without a page body cannot be rendered • A full reload ends sharing; use Continue to resume • The browser chrome (toolbar and address bar) is not included—only the page in the tab
