Overview

Turn supported web video and local image or video files into customizable ASCII art.

ASCII Frame turns supported web video — plus image and video files you choose from your device — into customizable ASCII art, rendered locally in your browser. Convert still images with the same active renderer, theme, palette, character set, visual mode, detail level, and performance profile you use for video. Images stay aspect-correct, and animated image formats are intentionally converted as still frames. Go beyond a single ASCII filter. Create a complete look, save it as a reusable profile, then assign a different profile to each supported site. Switch from battery-friendly text to balanced Canvas2D or high-detail WebGL2, and tune the theme, palette, character set, visual mode, detail, and frame rate. WHAT SETS ASCII FRAME APART • Local image and video conversion for files you choose on your device • Reusable profiles that save your complete visual and rendering setup • Per-site profiles for a different look on each supported site • Three rendering paths: Battery Saver, Balanced, and WebGL2 Quality • Visual modes including edge, ink, glow, posterize, contour, and two Matrix rain styles • Themes, True Color, custom palettes, and custom character sets • Quick controls in the overlay, toolbar popup, keyboard shortcut, and Options SUPPORTED MEDIA Use ASCII Frame on supported browser-video sites, or open your own image and video files in the built-in Local Media Viewer. Site players change, and protected or cross-origin video may block pixel sampling, so some individual videos may not work. PRIVACY ASCII rendering happens locally in your browser. ASCII Frame does not upload selected images, video frames, screenshots, browsing history, or extension settings to an ASCII Frame server.
