Artnap New Tab: Museum Paintings

A public domain painting from a museum collection in every new tab, with the story behind it.

Open a new tab and meet a painting. Artnap New Tab replaces the empty new tab page with a single painting from a museum collection, shown whole and large, with its title, artist, date and museum. Many come with a short story taken from the museum's own description, so every tab teaches you something small about art. What you get - A different painting each time you open a tab: landscapes, portraits, city views, Japanese screens and more, chosen for wide screens. - The story behind the work, in two lines, with the museum credited. - "See on Artnap" opens the painting's page on artnap.com, with the full record and the image in high resolution. - A Next button (or the right arrow key) when you want another painting. - An optional clock in the corner. - Light and dark appearance that follows your system. Fast and private - Paintings are cached on your computer, so a new tab opens instantly, even offline. - No account, no sign-in, no ads, no tracking. The extension does not read your browsing history or your tabs. - It only talks to artnap.com, to fetch a fresh selection of paintings about twice a day. About Artnap Artnap (artnap.com) is an archive of public domain art from museums and libraries around the world, including the Art Institute of Chicago, the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Rijksmuseum.
