Article Tracker & Notes for Substack turns your Substack reading list into something you actually work through. If you save more articles than you read, the saved list stops being a queue and becomes a pile. This extension gives that pile a shape: a three-column board, notes attached to each article, and quotes you can pull out as you go. WHAT IT DOES • Import your saved articles. Title, author, and publication are pulled in from your Substack saved list, without creating duplicates. • Track your progress. Drag articles between To Read, Reading, and Processed. • Take notes in a side panel. It docks beside the article instead of covering it, and edits save as you type. • Capture quotes. Select text on the page, keep the passage, and attach your own comments to it. • Tag and filter. Add keywords, then search your board by title, author, or topic. • Export to Markdown. Files come out with YAML front matter, ready for Obsidian or any plain-text notes system. • Back up and restore. Export your library as JSON and merge it into another device. YOUR DATA STAYS ON YOUR MACHINE There is no account and no server. Everything — articles, notes, quotes, tags — lives in your own browser's local storage. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is tracked, and there are no analytics of any kind. The only request the extension makes is a check for whether you are currently signed in to Substack. Exports are ordinary files saved to your computer, so your notes stay yours: portable, readable without this extension, and easy to move somewhere else. ABOUT PERMISSIONS Substack publications are also served from their own custom domains, which cannot be known ahead of time. Rather than ask for access to every website the moment you install it, this extension asks for one publication at a time, only when you add an article from it, and you can revoke any of them whenever you like.
