Overview

Scan pages for ARIA accessibility anti-patterns and identify likely component-library origins using DOM fingerprints.

aria-reach scans the current page for ARIA accessibility anti-patterns. When an affected element (or one of its ancestors) carries a recognized component-library fingerprint, aria-reach labels the finding with its likely originating library, so you can trace the issue to the upstream package instead of patching each page. Attribution is heuristic and may be unavailable or require manual confirmation. The browser extension checks three classes of issue drawn from real-world library bugs: • Decorative Noise — decorative elements announced as content • Live-Region Urgency — routine updates announced with "assertive" urgency that interrupts the screen reader • Widget Role Contract — e.g. aria-pressed where aria-selected is required; listboxes with no option semantics Findings include severity, a DOM selector, remediation guidance, and relevant WAI-ARIA or WCAG references where applicable. Use the highlighting feature to locate affected elements on the page. aria-reach supports targeted WCAG and Section 508 accessibility review; it does not certify complete compliance or replace manual screen-reader testing. All analysis occurs locally in the browser. No page content or user data is collected or transmitted. Open source (MIT): https://github.com/manichandra/aria-reach
