Aporta helps organizations use public AI tools without handing them sensitive values. Aporta finds sensitive data in what you type into ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot and Perplexity, and replaces it with reversible tokens before your text leaves the browser. When the tool answers, Aporta restores your own values so the reply is readable. What it covers ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot and Perplexity. On each, Aporta covers what you type into the message box. Microsoft Copilot is two separate sites, the consumer Copilot site and the Microsoft 365 Copilot chat site, and Aporta covers both of them in Chrome. Where your administrator has turned on attachment scanning, Aporta also covers spreadsheets, Word documents and presentations you attach. PDFs and scanned images are not scanned. The exact web addresses are the permissions this extension requests, which your browser shows you before you install. What it does not cover, stated here rather than in the small print Aporta does not protect AI tools generally. On any other AI site, your organization's policy decides whether you are blocked or redirected to a tool on the list above — Aporta does not quietly do nothing. AI built into another application — Copilot inside the Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook applications, or Einstein inside Salesforce — runs outside the page a browser extension can reach. That is a boundary of the approach, and no configuration closes it. Aporta protects identifiers it recognizes. It does not protect confidential subject matter that contains no recognizable identifier. What happens to your text Some detection runs on your own device and never leaves it. More complex detection runs on Aporta's servers, which means the text in the message box is transmitted to Aporta — when you pause typing, not only when you press send. Text you type and then delete has therefore already been sent for detection. It is processed in memory and not retained. This is the least obvious thing about how Aporta works, so it is said here as well as in the privacy policy. Aporta does not record the AI tool's responses. Aporta does not sell personal data, does not share it for advertising, and does not train models on your content. Aporta is sold to organizations.
