Learn languages from what you already watch. The Apilingual extension turns Netflix and YouTube into your language classroom. Watch Mode replaces the subtitles with two lines: the language you are learning on top, an English support line underneath, and every word colored by your own vocabulary - new words glow, learning words carry a dotted underline, known words stay plain. Nothing is simplified; the show carries you, the overlay keeps score. Tap any word and the video pauses while a word card opens: the meaning, dictionary suggestions, your own saved translations, pronunciation, and one-tap save with the scene's sentence attached. It is the same word panel as the Apilingual reader, so everything you save lands in the same vocabulary bank, the same reviews, and the same focused practice sessions. On YouTube, Watch Mode is one press away on the player, works with uploaded subtitles and auto-generated captions, translates the English support line automatically, and follows the video's own language. While you are signed in, a small badge next to a video's title shows the share of its words you have not learned yet, with a level estimate - measured against YOUR vocabulary, before you press play. And when a video deserves more than one viewing, one click imports its captions into your account as a full read-along lesson. Watching counts: time spent with the overlay active earns XP toward your daily streak, as its own activity alongside reading and practice. Languages: German, Spanish, Danish, French, Italian, Turkish, and Korean, with English as the support line. Requires a free Apilingual account. The extension runs inside your own browser and your own accounts with the video services; subtitles are processed in the moment and never stored.
