API Watchtower
Overview
Track API calls during UI workflows and generate a local HTML report.
API Watchtower helps QA engineers, developers, and SREs validate backend behavior while testing the UI. Start recording, run your normal UI flow, then stop recording. API Watchtower generates a downloadable HTML report that shows what happened across your API traffic so you can quickly spot performance issues and failures. What it does: Captures HTTP/HTTPS requests during your test session Highlights slowest calls and endpoint latency hotspots Breaks down 4xx, 5xx, and network failures Groups calls by page URL so you can see where each call happened Supports base URL filters to focus on selected services only Provides sortable/filterable report tables for fast triage Optionally captures request payload snapshots for 4xx/5xx calls (size-capped) Why install it: Debug UI + API behavior in one workflow Find regressions faster without manual Network tab digging Share one clear report with frontend/backend teams Improve test evidence quality for release validation Privacy-first behavior: Report is generated locally in your browser session No external upload is required by default Payload capture is optional and intended for error troubleshooting only
