Split Link
Overview
Keep search results and lists visible while reading links alongside them. Uses native Split View in Chrome 155+.
Keep your search results or list in view while you read linked pages alongside it. Split Link uses Chrome's native Split View to place your source page and a linked page in one browser window. Work through search results, article lists, and reference links while keeping your place in the list. Features - Click links in your list to replace the page in the adjacent viewer. - Choose "Keep viewer" to retain a useful page in its own tab. The next routed link opens in a new viewer tab. - Choose which sites to use from starter configurations for search, news, articles, shopping, and more. You can also add a site by URL. - Choose automatic activation, activation on the first routed link, or manual activation. Set which side contains your list. - Select a link on a page to create a rule, review matching links and their destination, then save. - Export and import settings as JSON for backups or use in another browser setup. Getting started 1. Open the extension settings and add a site you want to use as a search or list page. 2. Save all changes and grant access to the sites you selected. 3. Reload the source page and choose a link from the list. No sites are selected initially. For a new configuration, automatic splitting starts on a matching page when the browser window's outer width is at least 1440px. You can change this threshold in settings. By default, internal links open in the source view and external links open in the viewer; site settings and routing rules can change this behavior. Interface languages Japanese, English, German, French, Korean, Hindi, and Brazilian Portuguese. The initial language follows Chrome's display language and can be changed in the extension settings. Requirements and limitations Chrome 155 or later with the native Split View APIs is required. The extension has been tested on Windows with Chrome Beta 156. Operation in other environments is not guaranteed. Routing depends on each site's structure and link format. Starter configurations do not guarantee compatibility with every page. JavaScript controls without a link URL and links inside embedded frames are outside general support. Incognito mode is not supported. Adjust the split width manually using Chrome's divider. "New result tab (experimental prefetch)" is an optional experimental mode. Prefetch may not be used depending on the site and Chrome's conditions; faster loading is not guaranteed. Privacy Settings stay in your browser, and active tab-management state is held in browser session storage. The extension sends no data to its own servers and includes no usage telemetry. Chrome still makes normal requests to the websites you visit. Page access is used on source sites you explicitly select and allow. The webNavigation permission can receive browser-wide navigation events, but events outside the configured scope are not stored. The favicon permission displays site icons already stored by Chrome in the extension settings.
