Annota: draw, highlight and collect
Overview
Draw, highlight and point on any web page or PDF, then turn what you collect into notes, worksheets and flashcards.
Annota is in beta: everything is free for now, and you'll get at least two weeks' notice before anything needs a subscription. Mark up any web page or PDF like it's paper, present it to a class, and turn what you collect into notes, worksheets and flashcards. Made for teachers and tutors who teach from the web, and for students who learn from it. DRAW AND HIGHLIGHT • Pen, highlighter, arrows, boxes, circles, text notes and numbered markers, right on the page • Draw a rough line or circle and hold still: it straightens itself out • Drawings stay on the page and come back next time, so a lesson is prepared once and used with every class PRESENT • A laser pointer and disappearing ink that your class can see when you share a tab in a video call • Spotlight the part that matters and dim the rest, then copy a picture of just that part • A zoom lens for small print and diagrams • A whiteboard over the page, or beside it • Replay your drawings one step at a time COLLECT AND MAKE NOTES • Select text and click Collect: it keeps its links and the page it came from • Snapshots of the page with your drawings on them • Combine collected pages into a note with headings, lists, tables, pictures and YouTube clips • Blank out words to make a worksheet with an answer key, or flashcards to study (and export to Anki) • Save as PDF, download as HTML, or copy into a document or an email PDFS • Open a PDF in Annota's viewer to draw on it, search it, and download a copy with your drawings YOUR WORK STAYS WITH YOU Everything you make stays in your browser. There's no account and no tracking. Back it all up to one file, and share a prepared lesson with a colleague as a file. AFTER THE BETA Drawing, highlighting, collecting and notes stay free. Annota Pro adds worksheets and flashcards, the whiteboard, replay and lesson sharing, for $4 a month. Turn Annota on with its icon or Alt+Shift+D (⌥⇧D on a Mac). Every tool has a one-letter key.
