Keep the passages that matter without sending them anywhere. Privacy disclosure: Anno processes selected text, notes, drawing coordinates, placed text, page URLs and titles, colours, and timestamps solely on the user’s device to create and restore annotations. The extension does not transmit this information to zaiq.ai or any third party. Anno stays out of the way as a tiny movable corner +. Click it to open familiar Highlight, Pen, Eraser, and Text tools, then collapse it when finished. Drag the launcher to either edge if a website has controls underneath it. Select ordinary text to highlight it, draw freehand, place text anywhere on a webpage, or scrub across marks with the Eraser. Undo and redo stay close at hand. Clear page removes all marks through a deliberate two-step action, and one Undo restores the complete batch. Double-click an active tool or press Escape to pause annotation while keeping Anno available. Normal scrolling, links, text selection, and double-click word selection continue working. Temporary marks provides a disposable study layer that is never saved and disappears on navigation or reload. The larger Library opens only when requested and provides search, filters, editing, page and global clearing, import/export, and jump-to-passage controls. Highlights are designed to survive ordinary webpage changes. Anno validates saved positions and exact quote context. If a passage becomes missing or ambiguous, it is marked as needing attention instead of being attached to the wrong words. Everything stays in local extension storage. Anno has no account, backend, cloud sync, analytics, tracking, advertising, telemetry, remote code, or AI service. Nothing is transmitted by the extension. Website access remains under the user’s control. Broad website access is optional, is never required during installation, and can be revoked at any time. Anno supports ordinary desktop HTTP and HTTPS webpages. Browser-internal pages, extension-store pages, built-in PDF viewers, canvas-only applications, cross-origin frames, closed shadow roots, and heavily virtualised content are intentionally unsupported.
