Anchor Notes lets you highlight webpage text, attach your thoughts, and find them again in a searchable notes library. Whether you’re researching, studying, or collecting inspiration, your notes stay connected to their source. • Highlight and annotate: Select text and save it using the right-click menu or Alt/Option + Shift + H. Click a saved highlight to edit its note. • Find your ideas: Search, sort, filter, and group notes by website, then return to the original page. • Make highlights yours: Choose colors and adjust how much surrounding text is highlighted. • Keep context: Highlights use the saved quote and surrounding text to help restore their position when page layouts change. • Organize automatically: Built-in rules suggest topic tags locally, without network requests. • Back up your library: Export and import notes as JSON. Local by default Your notes are stored in your browser profile. No Anchor Notes account or backend is required, and browser sync is not used. Optional AI organization Enable OpenRouter, Ollama, or a custom OpenAI-compatible provider for richer tags and summaries on newly saved notes. Remote providers receive the saved quote, note, page title, and URL only when you enable this feature. If a page removes or substantially rewrites the saved text, its visual highlight may no longer appear. Your saved quote and note remain in your library.
