Analog Reader — calm reading mode
2 ratings
)Overview
Calm reading mode with atmospheric analog themes — old book, 90s newspaper, typewriter, terminal, VHS. Offline and private.
Analog Reader strips ads, banners, popups and sidebars off the page and shows only the article — beautifully typeset, in themes that feel like real analog media instead of a sterile "dark/light" switch. Bring back the quiet, warm glow of reading. FREE THEMES • Warm Evening — cream paper and low contrast, like a lamp under a shade • Dark Night — a gentle dark theme that is easy on the eyes • Old Book — classic book antiqua on aged paper • 90s Newspaper — a full newsprint experience: masthead with today's date, drop caps, justified columns, halftone paper MORE ATMOSPHERES • Samizdat — underground typewriter copy, with a "fresh imprint" mode • Terminal — green phosphor CRT with scanlines (switchable to amber) • VHS — chromatic aberration, tape noise and a VCR overlay • Scriptorium — illuminated manuscript with a gilded drop cap • Mono no Aware — meditative Japanese minimalism • Lightbox — an archivist's light table, cold or amber • Grid Hour — strict Swiss typography with a single red accent A READER THAT FEELS ALIVE • Reading comfort presets: line height, column width and letter spacing tuned in one click — with a separate preset for Cyrillic text • Evening glow: free themes warm up on their own as the evening comes • Resume where you left off, with a subtle progress ribbon • Paragraph focus mode: the current paragraph stays bright, the rest dims • Auto table of contents for long reads • Quote cards: select a phrase and export a beautiful 1080×1080 PNG in the style of your current theme • Quiet interface sounds (off by default) • Interface in English, Russian, Spanish and Portuguese PRIVATE BY DESIGN No accounts. No analytics. No network requests at all — fonts, textures and sounds are bundled inside. Your settings and reading positions never leave your device. The extension only touches a page when you click its icon. Keyboard shortcut: Alt+Shift+R. Return the web to silence.
