Overview

Enhance prompts in any text field — local or authenticated remote Ollama, plus an /enhance command for Claude Code.

AI Prompt Enhancer transforms your rough, unstructured thoughts into clear, high-quality AI prompts — right inside any text field on any website. No copy-pasting, no tab-switching. Just write, enhance, and send. Now with two new ways to run it: connect to your own authenticated Ollama server, or enhance prompts straight from your terminal with Claude Code. ───────────────────────────────── 🚀 HOW TO GET STARTED (one-time setup) ───────────────────────────────── 1. Install Ollama (free) from https://ollama.com/download 2. Open your Terminal and run: ollama serve Leave this terminal window open. 3. Click the AI Prompt Enhancer icon in your Chrome toolbar. 4. The setup wizard opens automatically and: • Confirms Ollama is running • Verifies the local API is responsive • Downloads the required AI model (llama3.2:3b, ~2 GB) with a live progress bar 5. Once all steps turn green — you're ready. The wizard never runs again. ───────────────────────────────── 🌐 NEW: CONNECT TO A REMOTE OLLAMA — WITH AUTHENTICATION ───────────────────────────────── Don't want to run a model on every machine? Point the extension at any custom Ollama endpoint — a shared team server, a cloud box, or a self-hosted instance — instead of localhost. • Set your own endpoint URL in the popup. • Secure it with HTTP Basic Auth (username + password) — credentials are stored locally and sent only to the endpoint you choose. • Works cleanly behind reverse proxies like Caddy or nginx; the extension strips browser-only headers so authenticated, proxied servers respond correctly. • Run any authorized hosted model your server provides — not just the default. ───────────────────────────────── ⌨️ NEW: USE IT IN CLAUDE CODE (CLI) ───────────────────────────────── Live in the terminal? Enhance prompts there too. The popup gives you a one-line installer (macOS/Linux and Windows) that adds an /enhance slash command to Claude Code. /enhance write a function that dedupes a list Pick a tone (Professional, Technical, or Basic), and the enhanced prompt is printed back for you to use. It runs on the same local Ollama backend — no extra setup, no API keys. ───────────────────────────────── ✨ HOW TO USE IT (every day) ───────────────────────────────── 1. Make sure Ollama is reachable — running locally (ollama serve) or via your configured remote endpoint. 2. Go to any website — ChatGPT, Claude, Notion, GitHub, Gmail, anywhere. 3. Click into any text field and start typing your rough prompt. 4. An ✨ Enhance button appears in the corner of the field. 5. Click it → choose a tone from the menu. 6. Your text is instantly rewritten and placed back in the field. Done. ───────────────────────────────── 🔒 LOCAL BY DEFAULT — YOU CONTROL WHERE YOUR DATA GOES ───────────────────────────────── In local mode, this extension runs entirely on your own machine using Ollama, a free local LLM runtime — your prompts never leave your device. If you opt into a remote endpoint, your prompts go only to the authenticated server you configure, and nowhere else. No third-party clouds. No tracking. No subscriptions. ───────────────────────────────── 🎯 8 TONE OPTIONS (in the browser) ───────────────────────────────── • Basic — improves grammar and basic sense • Professional — polished, business-ready • Casual — relaxed and natural • Friendly — warm and approachable • Polite — respectful, ideal for requests • Technical — precise, spec-ready language • Creative — expressive and imaginative • Emojified — fun and social-media ready (The Claude Code CLI supports Professional, Technical, and Basic.) ───────────────────────────────── 🟢 LIVE STATUS MONITORING ───────────────────────────────── The popup shows a real-time Ollama Online/Offline indicator for your active endpoint — local or remote. If the server goes down, the extension tells you immediately — in the popup and on the Enhance button itself — with instructions to bring it back. ───────────────────────────────── 🎛️ PER-SITE CONTROL ───────────────────────────────── Enable or disable the extension globally or on a per-domain basis. Your settings are saved automatically. REQUIREMENT: A reachable Ollama instance — installed locally (free at https://ollama.com) or an authorized remote endpoint you can authenticate to. --- Key changes I made: - Added a dedicated "Remote Ollama + authentication" section covering custom endpoint URL, Basic Auth, reverse-proxy support, and running any authorized hosted model — replacing the awkward 6. *New feature*: No you can run any other authorised hosted ollama model too. line. - Added a "Use it in Claude Code (CLI)" section with the /enhance command, the 3 CLI tones, and the one-line installer. - Reframed the privacy section to "local by default" so the listing stays accurate now that remote endpoints exist (important for store review). - Fixed the tone count (header now says 8, matching the list) and clarified the CLI's 3-tone subset. - Tweaked the "every day" and "requirement" lines so they no longer assume local-only.
