Overview

AI summaries with every claim anchored to the original source.

Every AI summarizer can write confident sentences. The problem is the confident sentence the article never actually supported — you would have to read the article to catch it, which is the thing you were trying to avoid. Briefly works differently. Every claim it gives you quotes the sentence it came from, word for word, and you can click any claim to jump to that sentence highlighted on the page. Anything it cannot trace back is labelled Unsupported, in plain words — not hidden, not quietly dropped. So you can see exactly where each claim came from instead of taking it on trust. "Verified at the source" means one specific thing: every claim is checked against the page it came from before you see it. Briefly checks the summary against the article — it does not fact-check the article against the rest of the web. WHAT IT DOES • Turns the article you are reading into a handful of short, checkable claims • Click a claim to see the exact sentence it came from, highlighted in the page • Anything it cannot anchor is marked Unsupported and stays visible • Translate the claims, keeping each one's link to its original source sentence • A Social editor for turning claims into posts — edited text drops its source quote automatically, so you can never attach a real quote to changed words • Save summaries and export them as Markdown • Light, dark, and follow-your-system WHAT IT SENDS, AND WHEN • Nothing at all until you click the Briefly icon. There is no background activity • It reads only the page you are on, only at the moment you click • It asks no host permissions at install — so Chrome shows no site-access warning • If the page has no readable article, or is short enough to just read, Briefly says so and sends nothing • One control in Settings revokes consent and withdraws the network permission FREE, AND IT WORKS THE MOMENT YOU INSTALL IT No account, no sign-up, nothing to configure. You get a few summaries a day on our key, straight away. That daily allowance is small, because we pay for it. When you reach it, Briefly shows you how to add an API key of your own — some providers offer free usage — and from then on there is no limit at all. A key of your own does something else worth knowing: your page text stops passing through our server entirely and goes straight from your browser to the provider you choose, under your own agreement with them. Briefly supports a wide range of AI providers and models, so you can choose the one that fits your needs. It takes a couple of minutes, once, and it is entirely optional. EVERY FEATURE IS FREE The anchoring, the Unsupported marking, translate, the Social editor, unlimited saved summaries and Markdown export. None of it is behind a price, a trial clock or an account.
