Instead of letting useful documentation, engineering articles, tutorials, and interview preparation disappear into your browser history, Cortex helps turn approved learning activity into a personal skill record you can use for career planning. ## Build your skill profile from real learning Choose the technical websites you want Cortex to work with, then continue reading as usual. On approved sites, Cortex can: - Identify relevant technical concepts from the content you read. - Track meaningful learning activity for those concepts. - Build familiarity scores based on continued engagement. - Organize skills into Exploring, Learning, and Interview Ready stages. - Let you manually add or acquire skills when you are ready. - Automatically move a Learning skill to Interview Ready at your selected threshold when Auto Mode is enabled. Learning and Interview Ready skills include familiarity progress based on factors such as focused reading time, repeated engagement, article count, and unique learning sources. Revisiting an article can contribute additional learning activity without creating duplicate source records. ## Discover opportunities that fit your skills Cortex can compare the skills in your Ambitology profile with current job postings. Open **Role Fit** from the extension to: - See opportunities ordered by skill overlap. - Understand which skills from your profile appear in a posting. - Identify skills you may still want to develop. - Explore opportunities by career direction. - Filter matching based on all skills, actively learned skills, or Interview Ready skills. - Review available posting information such as compensation, location, seniority, and employment type. Job matching is intended to help you discover relevant opportunities and understand skill alignment. A match does not guarantee qualification, compensation, an interview, or employment. ## Move from a match to an application When you find an opportunity you want to pursue, Cortex can carry your approved profile and career context into Ambitology's application tools. Depending on the workflow, you can: - Create a resume tailored to a selected posting. - Run a fit analysis before applying. - Save a posting to your application workflow. - Open the original application page. - Use your approved profile information and application materials to help fill supported application forms. - Review completed fields and make changes before submission. You remain in control of the application process. Application information can be reviewed and edited before you approve submission. ## Your personal Skill Graph Your acquired skills can also be viewed in Ambitology's Skill Graph: https://ambitology.com/dashboard?tab=skill-graph The Skill Graph provides a visual view of your skills, their supporting learning evidence, relationships between related concepts, and possible career directions. It is designed as a career-planning tool to help you understand where your current learning may lead and where additional learning could be useful. ## Privacy and control Cortex works only with technical websites you explicitly approve for learning activity. It does not monitor all browsing activity, collect your general browsing history, read passwords, or collect unrelated form entries. During normal learning activity, technical keyword detection and reading analysis are performed locally in Chrome when supported by the browser's on-device capabilities. When you choose to acquire a skill, Cortex can securely sync the selected skill and relevant learning metadata with your Ambitology account. This may include information such as familiarity score, reading time, article count, and unique learning-source URLs. Job matching uses the skills stored in your Ambitology profile rather than your general browsing activity. For application assistance, Cortex uses only the profile information, resume, application materials, and related data that you choose to provide or approve. You can update or remove skills from your profile at any time. Ambitology does not sell personal data or use your information for unrelated advertising. ## Permissions **Storage** Stores local skill information, learning activity, approved websites, preferences, pending synchronization data, and user-approved application workflow data. **Identity** Allows optional sign-in so you can connect your acquired skills, career preferences, and application materials with your Ambitology account. **Scripting and optional site access** Allows Cortex to analyze technical content only on websites you choose to approve.
