Overview
Quickly search the AllJailSearch database to check if a person has been incarcerated. Search by name and state.
# AllJailSearch - Inmate Lookup AllJailSearch is a browser extension that lets you look up inmate records from the AllJailSearch.us public database directly from your toolbar. Enter a first name, last name, and US state, and the extension returns matching records along with available details such as the facility, location, charges, and case status. ## What It Does The extension provides a simple popup window where you can submit a search by first name, last name, and state. When you click search, the extension sends your query to the AllJailSearch.us API and displays any matching inmate records in the same popup. Each result includes the person's name, photo when available, the facility holding them, the location, the charges on record, and the current case status. If you need a more detailed report, each result has a button that opens the full background report for that person on AllJailSearch.us in a new tab. ## How to Use Click the AllJailSearch icon in your browser toolbar to open the popup. Type the person's first name and last name into the form, then choose the US state you want to search from the dropdown menu. The dropdown covers all 50 states. Click the "Search Database" button. Within a few seconds the extension will show you either a list of matching records or a message confirming that no records were found for that person in the selected state. To open a more comprehensive report on AllJailSearch.us, click the "Complete Background Report" button on any result. ## What You'll See in the Results For each match, the extension displays a card with the person's full name, their booking photo if one is on file, the name of the facility, the city or county where the facility is located, the charges associated with the record, the booking date, the release date when applicable, and the inmate identification number. If no matching record exists in the database for the name and state you entered, the extension shows a clear confirmation that no record was found. ## Who This Is For The extension is useful for anyone who needs quick access to publicly available inmate information. People typically use it to locate a family member who has been moved between correctional facilities, to verify information they've been told about someone, to look up case status during an active legal matter, or to research public records for journalism, genealogy, or general due diligence. Because incarceration records are public information in the United States, no special account or credentials are required to perform a search. ## Privacy The extension does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information about you. It does not track your browsing activity, it does not read or modify any website other than AllJailSearch.us, and it does not save your search history locally or remotely. The only network requests the extension makes are to the AllJailSearch.us API, and those requests contain only the name and state values that you typed into the search form. No accounts, sign-ins, or personal identifiers are required to use the extension. ## How the Data Is Sourced AllJailSearch.us aggregates publicly available information from federal, state, and county sources, including the Federal Bureau of Prisons, state Departments of Corrections, county sheriff offices, and local detention facilities. Inmate records in the United States are public information under federal and state open-records laws, and the database brings these sources together into a single search interface. The extension simply provides a faster way to query that existing public database from your browser. ## Important Notes The information returned by the extension is sourced from public records databases and is provided for general informational purposes. It should not be used as a substitute for an official background check governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). If you are making employment, housing, credit, or insurance decisions about a person, you must use a properly certified, FCRA-compliant consumer reporting agency rather than this extension. The extension is intended for personal research, family location, journalism, genealogy, and similar non-FCRA uses. Records in any public database can be incomplete, out of date, or duplicated. If a search returns no results, it does not necessarily mean the person has no record — it may only mean that no record exists in this database for the state you searched. Always verify important information with official court or corrections sources before acting on it. ## Technical Details The extension is built on Manifest V3 and works on Chrome and other Chromium-based browsers. It requests a single host permission limited to alljailsearch.us, which is required so that the extension can send search queries to the API and display the response. No other permissions are requested. The extension does not load remote code: all JavaScript that runs in the popup is bundled inside the extension package itself. An active internet connection is required because the extension queries a live database. ## Support If you encounter a problem with the extension, have feedback, or want to report information that appears inaccurate, please visit AllJailSearch.us for support contact details.
